So as to not make this thread to confusing & long, I am only including errors with the biomes/ecoregions in the US for this report. I will eventually expand this and create a separate bug report for other areas of the globe when I get to them.

- Central US forest-grasslands transition
- Blue Mountains forests
- Upper Midwest US forest-savanna transition
- Western Great Lakes Forests
- Central Tallgrass Prairie

- Description of the issue:
The biomes in the above eco-regions are not representative of the biome in real life. Many species of flora do not match those of real life, or even of the species listed in the very database MS used to create them. I think that Asobo/MS should take a second look at each ecoregion and its associated biome in the simulator and make the necessary changes. Many of these errors are carryovers from MSFS 2020.
- For example, the Central US forest-grasslands transition eco region, should (according to this) be comprised of “a mix of eastern deciduous forest, prairie, oak savanna, and other grasslands.” Currently, it is comprised of mostly only massive coniferous pine forests that look like something out of Alaska.
- This seems, to be the big issue. Fix this, and the rest of the changes will be very minor.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.
- Ensure no biome mods installed
- Load into an airport within the eco region boundaries described here.
- Compare the biome flora in sim vs. the described biome flora on the above link.

Ecoregion: Central US forest-grasslands transition.
This should be mostly all deciduous trees, but is covered in massive coniferous pine trees. Please Make this ecoregion primarily deciduous trees with only a few (maybe 5%) coniferous trees. Chicago should not look like the Pacific Northwest. The following screenshot is somewhere in central Illinois.
Ecoregion: Blue Mountains forests.
This area should be comprised up of mostly coniferous trees throughout, even in the lower elevations. Right now, it is covered by mostly all deciduous trees with a few coniferous pines here and there and in the upper elevations. Please make this ecoregion primarily coniferous trees, with only a few (maybe 5%) deciduous trees. The following screenshot is near the town of Joseph in the Wallowa mountains.
Ecoregion: Wyoming Basin Shrub Steppe
In the sim, this area has green deciduous trees throughout urban areas in the middle of winter, but also has many deciduous green shrubs/small trees even in the rural areas in the middle of winter. The following photo is of a rural area in the middle of winter near Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Ecoregion: Southeast US conifer savannas
In the sim, the rural areas of this ecoregion are perfect, however, the urban areas are filled with palm trees everywhere. This results in cities such as Washington, DC turning into a tropical oasis with palm trees everywhere. Please remove palm trees from the urban areas of this ecoregion. Also, please consider splitting this ecoregion into a north and south. As of now, the deciduous trees in the northern expanses of this area (which extend all the way up to Baltimore), are 100% green even in the middle of winter. This is fine for the southern portion of this ecoregion as the deciduous trees down there are mainly evergreens (live oaks), but the northern expanses in central North Carolina & Virginia should lose their leaves in the winter months. As an added bonus, if you do split this ecoregion into a north/south, that would allow you to place a few palm trees in urban areas in the towns of the southern portion, such as in Florida. +Please see the shot below of DC in January. Notice the palm trees…
Ecoregion: Central Tallgrass prairie
In the sim, this ecoregion is covered with green deciduous flora all year round in both urban and rural areas. It looks like a tropical oasis. Please add season appropriate flora for this eco-region. The following photo is of Des Moine, Iowas in the middle of winter.
and here is a screenshot showing that even the rural areas of this region are green in the middle of winter.
Ecoregion: Piney Woods
In the sim, the urban/populated areas of this biome are covered in palm trees. Shreveport, Louisiana looks like something out of the Amazon.
Ecoregion: Ozark Mountain Forests
In the sim, this entire region is covered by evergreen deciduous trees. Both the urban and rural areas. In the middle of January, all of the vegetation is showing as bright green. Please update this ecoregion so that the deciduous trees lose their leaves in winter. The below screenshot is outside of Fort Smith, Arkansas in January.
Ecoregion: Upper Midwest US forest-savnna transition.
Ecoregion: Western Great Lakes Forests
Ecoregion: Southern Great Lakes forests
Ecoregion: Eastern Great Lakes lowland forests
Ecoregion: Mid-Atlantic US coastal savannas
Ecoregion: Appalachian Piedmont forests
Ecoregion: Appalachian-Blue Ridge Forests
Ecoregion: Allegheny Highlands Forests
Ecoregion: Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens
Ecoregion: Northeast US Coastal Forests
Ecoregion: Interior Plateau US Hardwood Forests
Ecoregion: Ozark Highlands Mixed Forests
Ecoregion: Northern Shortgrass Prairie
Ecoregion: Northern Tallgrass Prairie
Ecoregion: Montana Valley and Foothill Grasslands
In the sim, all of these ecoregions are fine in the rural areas, however, in the urban/populated areas, the following evergreen deciduous tree is everywhere. This causes every town to look like it’s summertime even in the middle of winter. The following screenshot is the tree-type causing the issues in these ecoregions.
