Black box when entering VR

:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Description of the issue:
    When switching over to VR while in the cockpit of any plane, a large black box appears in front of you that obstructs your view. The box appears to be stationary and does not follow when you move your head. Issue is resolved by escaping to menu and resuming flight. This image was borrowed from another user but reflects the issue accurately.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
    No add-ons.

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
It happens every time, only while in the cockpit. Does not happen in menus or external views.

  1. Start flight.
  2. Enter cockpit.

same problem, I also formatted the PC, I tried to install it on C instead of on another HDD, nothing to do, the problem remains.

So, I found out what caused the problem. you have to deactivate HDR both from the game and from Windows, doing so solved the problem for me, the menu bar remains buggy

Deactivating HDR did not work for me.

have you disabled hdr from windows but exiting the game and restarting the pc?

I am having this same issue. I see the fix may be to deactivating HDR. I saw another fix that you had to go into NVDIA Geforce and fix the issue in there. Is everyone having success with Deactivating HDR?

Thanks, I was able to fix this issue with your help. I do think I should not have to disable HDR on my computer every time I play the game. Something seems wrong here and a fix is in order.

After double-checking my settings, I can confirm that disabling HDR in Windows settings and MSFS 2024 resolves the black box issue for me.

I Was able to get rid of the blackbox by going into the settings menu and then resuming the game.

This happens on my game as well. Big stupid black box centre of screen. Only thing that works for me is to cancel out and reload a flight
again.

Same here. RTX3090 Ryzen 5900X ReverbG2
Will try disabling HDR but expect the team to fix this.

• Makes sim unplayable in VR… why? because if you enter the menu to get rid of the black box (which works) you no longer have mouse interaction when you come back. (another issue as described elsewhere). If you go back to 2D and then back to VR (described as way to fix mouse interaction issue) then the black box re-appears.

Problem with this solution is that when you go to menu and come back you lose the mouse interaction which is another issue in VR.

I’ve had to go from VR mode to desktop and back to VR mode to restore mouse interaction

Update… turned HDR off in windows settings and I no longer get the black box when entering VR…
