let us first start with the easy stuff, because well known:

Dont press “Verify files” in Steam, otherwise all will be reininstalled. There is open issue for that

Then to the main problem:

to be sure: you installed MSFS the fist time ever , or is it a re-installation ?

You can may be try to remove files from AppData for a “fresh” start. Depends on where you have installed the Packages folder, you can remove the whole AppData\Microsoft_FlightSim… folder or not. If “Packages” was installed in Steam-Default location , then it sit within the AppData folder. Then you can remove all files/folders, except the Packages. Or you move the Packages folder to e.g. a D: drive and in next start of MSFS you set that Path in the “updater” ( so you not need to redownload ).
( e…g create a folder like D:\msfs , move Packages into so that you have D:\msfs\Packages )

Before you then Start MSFS again, ensure that you can login into the xbox app. Logout in xbox-app, Restart windows ( choose restart, not shutdown+start ) , Login into xbox app.
( note: gameing services are not needed for Steam users, so still optional also if that company MS will try to force you to install that buggy stuff ).

I also remember some rare cases, where the login dialog was in background. So try Alt+Tab and check whether a dialog is “waiting” while black screen is in front.

The game is installed for the first time. This is not a game reinstall. The problem with the installation started a week ago, and has not been resolved to this day.

I saw that the first picture from MSFS is covered with a black square. I immediately tried to switch using the ALT -TAB keys, but there was no response. When switching to the “windowed” game mode, the ALT-TAB key also did not give any result.

All folders in the APPA section related to MSFS are known to me, and they were deleted before starting the reinstallation of STEAM. reinstalled three times. Result 0. I don’t have the XBOX app installed. Now I will reinstall Windows 11 PRO. I will report the results later.

P.S. I was given a MSFS game running from drive D and regardless of the STEAM launcher. The game loads great and works on my computer using the same files in C:\Users\RusCyprus\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator. But this is not a licensed game. And I want to install the licensed game I bought.

hmmm… so far I remember, the xbox app was necessary from day one for ms-store and steam users. Optional for steam was only gameing services.

Not sure what you meant with “non-licensed”… I hope we speak about legal installations :wink:

This program (MSFS) running from the D drive was given to me to test the capabilities of my computer, because MSFS does not have a preview, or a preliminary test of the program. You can only pay 130 euros to check whether it will work on this computer or not. This is called blind buying. And suddenly you’re lucky, and everything will work. Apparently it didn’t work for me. oh oh… thats hard edge case in point of legal. Some users tried for testing the xbox-test-abo for some days ( which costs not much ), all other ways are usually not legal. If a gaming manufactor not provide a Demo-Version , then users can not simple go that “no-licensed” way. We should quickly forget that you did that.

The problem we searching is now for the “licensed” version of MSFS. Let us focus on that :slight_smile:

Only licensed programs, or programs in the public domain, are installed on my computer. This is why I try so hard to install MSFS purchased from the Microsoft site.
I am not satisfied with the option of using non-licensed software. My computer, at my work, in the security department, is regularly checked for licensed software.

As mentioned, GameServices you not need. The app nerves about that you should install it, but you can ignore that.

Everything went well. Windows reinstallation was successful, xbox services were installed, after that I downloaded STEAM and installed the MSFS deluxe game. The launch of the game was successful. The black screen is gone. There is a download of 120 gigabytes of the game. Now I understand where the black screen comes from. As you can see in the previous pictures, the black square obscures the picture. It turned out that it was a registration in xbox with a request to enter a username and password. But since I didn’t have xbox services, then instead of the picture with registration, I had a black square, and without registration, the game didn’t go further, and went to a black screen and the game hung. That’s the whole problem. Unfortunately, in two weeks I will have to install Windows again, since I already purchased a 2 terabyte SSD drive for this game. Everything will definitely fit here! Thank you all for your help. I think, to solve the issue of a black screen, we need to add an answer - be sure to check the presence of Xbox services on your PC. Without them, the game will work, but the first download and download will not work.

Well, I finally downloaded the game. Three days downloaded updates for the game. In Cyprus, the speed of the Internet is not very high, unfortunately. Today I even made my first flight. Excellent beautiful graphics, and most importantly, realistic control. Very happy with the purchase. The toy entailed reinstalling Windows, buying a new 2 terabyte SSD, buying a gaming keyboard, mouse, gaming and expensive joystick, and much more. I made a big computer upgrade.
