Black screen when loading MSFS

Hi skypilotYTS,
I tried nearly everything suggested, including -FastLaunch. I installed MSFS on a ROG Ally, the loading time maybe quicker when intstalled on the internal SSD, but it works. I also managed to install MSFS on my SteamDeck.
Regards

Was just having this issue and the -FastLaunch instructions you posted worked to get it to the screen to run the updates that were waiting on it

well now I have to use this everytime it seems to launch on my Workstation PC … that is not really that good…

though it seems to boot a little faster not needing the extra opening screen…

I’ve had it enabled since day 1, you aren’t missing anything by having it on and it boots faster.

Just leave it

I think I have found “WHY” it breaks and need the faster boot.

To support something my Streamdecks and Wave Link Software needed to be updated. There seems to be a long standing issue now going back some time to early 2023 even.

The “GAME” channel that you can assign seems to not actually work. You can’t even test it in the “device config”.

If MSFS was configured to use this device and that was broken seems to have caused issues since on start they want to play that video and Audio. Windows can’t route the device and it hangs.

once I was in the Game I could not even change the audio device… would not change. Went to windows audio channel manager … Defaulted the device in it. and MSFS Hung.

Launched again but now it came up normal and was playing out of my Default audio device.

Once in MSFS I assigned to one of the working channels (Aux 2) and now MSFS had audio and the menus were not broken.

Now it will load without the Fast boot requirement (and audio for the game is not broken either).

I will still launch it now from the batch just to shorten the time a little. But if anyone is pulling out their hair and has WAVE Audio Mixer… might be the currently broken GAME channel.

For me the solution was this. I have a set of headphones connected via usb (soud is really better than headphone jack). I also have a cheap soundbar connected through jack from back of pc. I went into Control panel/sound and disabled the headphones and enabled the soundbar. Voila! So why it happens i dont know but its fine now. I’ll just have to remember. Cheers, CaptC
