Black screen white circle

I’ve been away for the weekend.
Switched computer on to enjoy a game.
The game is now broken and won’t load in either normal or safe mode.
■■■ has happened?

Is it stuck at the Splash Screen? Or won’t the game open?

Exactly… what happend ? We can not guess it from what you tell a issue descriptiion

What mean “broken” ? what happens, a crash ? if so, have you the error message from windows event log ? What you tried in meanwhile ? etc…

It gets past the splash screen, then just refuses to go any further. Apart from a spinning circle on the bottom right hand side of the screen.
I’ve never had any problems whatsoever until now.
They have broken it.
It was working perfectly until now :rage::rage::rage:

So from what I am hearing, it gets past the splash screen and sits on the black screen after that, correct?

Also, as @MichaMMA mentioned, does it cause a CTD?

Nothing is happening.
There is no error code.
There is nothing to go on.
It just isn’t working anymore where as it was before

Who ever updated it have broken it.
I don’t want to sit hear going through basic questions and workarounds.
Am I the only person with this problem?

nobody updated somewhat and nobody work at weekend as only one reason to make your game instable . So please, take a deep breath, breathe out and then step by step

ok… then not step by step and we can come to an end here… bye bye

I’m sorry.
I didn’t mean to be snappy.
I’ve had a long day travelling.
I’ll leave it for now because it’s not so important as to ruin my evening.
I’ve turned the pc off.
It just wasn’t working, whereas it’s always work flawless up until now.

Hello @PlushyHarp19648,
What you are describing is generally fixed by updates.

  1. Check Windows for Updates (then restart your device - even if it says no restarting is required)
  2. Check MS Store updates (then restart your device)

Mine is the steam version.
It has just updated.
That’s when the problem has manifested itself :persevere:

I shall leave the circle to spin away for a few hours. I have turned off the speakers and watching columbo.
Maybe I’m just being impatient.

I know about frustration, therefore I’am often try to bring users a bit down ( hope in english can I say so ).

The most important thing is a real Windows Restart ( and repeated: not shutdown and start ) after installing all updates. Then also often the simple Relogin in Xbox did the trick.

The white circle can also be a syncing issue… I started quickly Steam again to check whether it currently works by me: but it looks good here.

I fear… waiting some hours will not help. But I also fear we have to “trying” some things. I not know what happens, but often also cleaning some files in AppData will help ( %AppData%/Micros… \ SceneryCache , SceneryIndex, DCE , Content.xml , possible RollingCache )

EDIT: and , if there was windows updates installed , please check your audio settings in windows. We have some users which report in special for win11, that the audio completely messed up and I remember older topics with that black screen, where audio-issue caused that

OK I have made some progress!
I’ve disabled beta update in steam, and now we are getting more progress.
Now I am getting all the graphics, and press any button to start.
It’s in another death loop at this stage.
So I will do another restart etc…

It’s still failing to start.
But I’ve lost interest for this evening.
Thank you for your help

Make sure when you leave Beta is to:

  1. Exit from the Beta via the Xbox Insider App
  2. Clean Uninstall MSFS
  3. Restart PC
  4. Reinstall MSFS

If you do not uninstall MSFS after leaving a beta, you will have both builds in your folder, causing issues like this.

Okay thank you.
I’ll do that today :ok_hand::ok_hand:

So I have done everything that you have told me. Step by step.
I’ve even gone into appdata and deleted Microsoft flight simulator.
That was a huge file.
So fresh clean start.
I installed it from steam again, click on the icon to play.
The game loads up and gets past the splash screen, then I see planes flying about and am prompted to press any button to start.
I press any button to start.
It keeps telling me to press any button.
It’s locked in a loop.
It did this before I completely uninstalled it.
So I have totally removed the game, and it still won’t work any more.
Microsoft Windows 11 home
Version 10.022622 build 2262
Intel i9-900kf processor
Z490 AORUS mobo
32gb Ram
Palit rtx 3090 graphics.

So my system should be up to scratch.
It worked absolutely fine before I went away for the weekend.

Now I really am stuck for ideas

Update…
It suddenly seems to be working!
I’ve got to the installation manager part.
I’ll let you know
