I downloaded. Thanks
Strange bug re the Garmin 430, not sure if itās a WT/Asobo issue or BlackSquare.
When the 430 is selected as NAV 2, and the KX-155 is selected as NAV 1, data on the 430ās 1st NAV page (XTK, DIS, ETE, DTK) freezes, and doesnāt update. When NAV 1 is changed to the 530, the 430 in NAV 2 starts updating correctly again.
Are you using an addon livery?
No, default livery used. Further testing leads me to believe itās an Asobo issue. When I use the 430 (NAV2) in the default 172, I get similar issues, but only for a couple seconds, until the track changes have cross filled over to the 530 in NAV1.
Basically, the GPS in NAV1 drives the GPS navigation solution, and NAV2 is just a copy of some of the NAV1 data. This isnāt usually an issue as having a single GPS in the NAV2 position is very rare, until now.
Engine failure in harsh winter weather.
Aw I love the Bonanza, the code under her bonnet is so complex she is literally alive!
And so many fascinating failures, one never knows what surprised will pop up (or in case of electrical problems pop out on the circuit breaker panel) in the next flightā¦
But the engineā¦ I was not prepared for the engine!
I thought it will just be another light bulbā¦
The flight begun in nice cozy romantic winter weather. The heater was on, and the seats were soft and cozy.
I could not find out what the failure was, the engine was loosing all itĀ“s power almost idling, and slowly degraded to engine off. Looking at the screenshots I have noticed the fuel flow going down, maybe the fuel lines were freezing or clogged.
Such exciting flight adventures are only possible with the best airplane ever made, the Black Square Bonanza Baron and TBM850 (I donĀ“t want to decide for only one because a true aircraft conaisseur has all three of them.
Thereās an emergency checklist item for loss of engine power:
CONDITION: LOSS OF ENGINE POWER
-
Fuel Flow Gage- CHECK
If fuel flow is abnormally low:
a. Mixture - FULL RICH
b. Auxiliary Fuel Pump- ON (Lean as required)
c. Auxiliary Fuel Pump - OFF if performance does not improve in a few moments -
Fuel Quantity Indicator - CHECK for fuel supply in tank being used
-
Alternate Air T-handle - PULL AND RELEASE
If tank being used is empty:
Fuel Tank Selector Valve- SELECT OTHER FUEL TANK (feel for detent and check visually)
The three biggest things, are fuel, air, and spark provided by the magnetos. You were flying in the snow so I wonder if your induction air was getting impacted by ice. Thatās what the alternate air system is for. It should open automatically, but I donāt know if the sim simulates that, so Iād pull on the T-handle to the left and below the gear handle. It forces open the valve to take air from inside the cowling instead of the normal louvre and filter. Itās hotter air, so youāll lose some power and itāll run hotter, but itās better than losing the engine completely and crashing.
That, or it was a random, unrecoverable failure.
No it was just my stupidityā¦
I was very curious what failure was happening, and carefully checked the screenshots from that flight to find out what was wrong ā¦
Well I am not used in GA-flying and GA-flyers have something an Airbus doesnĀ“t haveā¦ a tank selector switchā¦
To get her airborne on Lower Loon Creek I flew with only 20% fuel.
And there is no low fuel warning and no low fuel light in the cockpit, and she is such a gas guzzler after ten minutes she ran out of fuel.
I thought āawesome how exciting this must be one of the exciting and rich failures this plane has when setting failure rate to 64x or 128x! Epic! What do we have - spark fouling? Engine flooded? Fuel pump failure or fuel line frozen? Or maybe a Gremlin under the hood I heard these Black Square airplanes even simulate the Twilight Zone Gremlin gnawing on hoses and cables under the hood! Let me quick program a direct to next airport route before the battery runs out and the Garmin and the autopilot fail!ā
I never even looked at the fuel gauge to notice that the left tank was empty and the right one 20% full
Iāve never once failed to switch tanks on the Bonanza. Never once. Never. Okay, maybe twice, but thatās almost neverā¦
Welcome to the club!
One of the must have items on a GA aircraft is a good click/timer. Best part of the JF Arrow is the easy to use clock on the yoke.
ItĀ“s easy to forget because even with a significant imbalance like here the airplane is not really rolling to one side
The TBM is constantly clicking every few seconds and switching left tank and right tank and vice versa on her own.
But I sometimes forget to switch that automatic tank select feature on
Oh awesome thank you for this tip!
HavenĀ“t flown the TBM lately but almost all the time only my secret favorite the Bonanza and her glorious turbo-howl.
(Excuse the HUD but this nuisance keeps popping up again and again lately no matter how often I switch it off.)
I hope Black Square will take a lot of care and attention and updates in the future for these wonderful gorgeous three new master-props TBA Bonanza and Baron like a nice door for the Bonanza and the altimeter wants some more details, and the screen of the Garmin GTN750 is very bad centered with the upper touchscreen-icons cut off a few millimeters (I have fixed that as good as possible in the config)ā¦ but almost perfect we are almost there.
Is there an email adress from Black Square? I have made a re-alignment for the GTN750 touchscreens and this fix should find a way into their next patch so everyone can enjoy this
I picked this up on sale and itās a very nice product. Any way to adjust the size or rate of the O2 system? Iām apparently a heavy breather and still get about 14 hours on a portable tank IRL. The original owner clearly went a bit cheap and threw in the smallest bottle as Iām getting under 3 hours with 2 adults onboard.
Also seems the fuel flow is a bit low for the turbo. I am getting about 14GPH at 50 degrees rich of peak at 17,000 ft and would have expected closer to 16-17.
You didnāt notice POSTION lights then?
Thatās because you are in the SU14 beta. There is a bug that causes the assistance options to reset.
See here: Assistance options get reset to default on every startup
Hi all, since the latest update A/P seems to be bugged for me when using the 530 and/or 430. During runup test and flight, itās not responsive, canāt activate NAV and HDG mode does nothing.
Works fine with the legacy radio instruments.
Is this happening to anyone else ?
Anyone using gtn750 (pms) knows the way to tune new .05 frequencies for vatsim manually in Bonanza? I noticed if the freq is 124.605, 124.610 needs to be tuned since theres no way to tune three numbers.
Be sure to turn the channel spacing to 8.33 in the System / Setup / COM/NAV page
check option channel spacing 8.33 khz
about AP @Crokmossieu not turning and bugging if active on ground, notice such issue with the analog caravan and kap140 , even if panel didnāt show gps or nav active, I was still able to follow a gps track but not change altitude with vs either.
I donāt know when this start to happend since I m on a fresh new setup, and made many change recently
Amazing, thanks for help!
