Is there a way to get the copilots to appear inside of each of these Black Square aircraft? I can’t seem to find the ex-interior.xml that might allow you to do this as I have with other aircraft.
While I love the look of the King Air, I also hate the default implementation. I’m on a razor-then fence as to whether to buy this one or not. It’s more system depth than I’ll ever use, and more money than I normally spend for an addon. I’ve seen most of the videos out there that showcase this feature or that, but the one thing I can’t determine is whether I’m alone in the cockpit or not. So… Is there a visible copilot sitting to my right, or will I be alone in the cockpit?
You’re alone. A King Air can be flown single pilot.
His question didn’t seem to be whether or not he could fly it single pilot, it seemed like he was concerned if he could see his passenger/copilot beside him,
I’m in the same camp, I like the people in the plane, and don’t like it when authors don’t let them be viewed.
Fair enough.
The latest update of the analog King Air includes a co pilot in the cockpit if you want. It just requires a simple edit of some flt files…instructions in the manual.
Not the manual uploaded to Just Flight. Is there any way of getting an updated manual without getting the plane? And please don’t say Discord. I’ve never seen a more aptly named website in my life.
Sorry, it’s in the change log. What it says is…
- Added optional copilot model to interior, which can be made visible by setting the default value to 1 at the end of the *.FLT files in the aircraft’s configuration files folder.
This is easily done, I’ve done it and it works. I highly recommend this plane.
To be more precise:
You can only get the copilot to show. You can’t get any visible passengers or cargo.
To get the copilot to appear, you will need to edit all the files with name ending with “.FLT” which are located in the folder of the plane. Here is the example for the Caravan:
…\Community\bksq-aircraft-analogcaravan\SimObjects\Airplanes\bksq-aircraft-analogcaravan
You will see FLT files in there, such as “apron.FLT”, “climb.FLT” etc… You need to edit them with notepad, it’s just simple text. What you need to do is just to modify the very last line of these files, which says:
“BKSQ_ShowCopilotInterior=0”
You simply have to replace the “0” with a “1” so that it looks like this:
“BKSQ_ShowCopilotInterior=1”
And don’t forget to save the file.
Once the files have been modified, you can relaunch the sim and load a flight with the plane. Setting the copilot weight from the load manager at any value superior to 70 lbs should make it appear. It worked for me with the Caravan.
IMPORTANT: this works ONLY with the latest updated version of the BS planes, updated only a few days ago.
Thanks to both of you. I’m very familiar with editing files. I’ve tweaked the Apron.flt for the DA42 for a more realistic cold/dark start - there were things that I think should be off before leaving the plane that are on when you get in.
And for editing, I use Notepad++ with the Compare plugin. The flt files for the 42 are nearly identical to those in the default 62, so I can go in and easily see what needs to be adjusted.
All that said, I think I’m about convinced that I’m going to have the King Air in my hangar by the weekend. I spent an irresponsible amount of money at a club this past weekend, so I may stay home and get some flight hours in this coming weekend…
Thanks for the info you guys.
