Blackbird Simulations News/ Updates

Meanwhile there is a funny meme tool fans use to describe what it feels like when waiting for the next Tool album to be released…
It definitely could be used in relation to the 737-200…
but the last time i did.. my post was deemed you know…:rofl:
On that note…
Maybe a RNZAF livery to soften the blow on the air nz 737-200 :upside_down_face:

Must have!

May have it missed it in the recent stream, going forward will this just be a blackbird website and in-store marketplace purchase only?

Same here, I can wait a bit longer for the actual release. I’m tired of early access.

Loved what I saw in the stream, my only concern is performance, it kind of looked like a slideshow in the stream at some points and I don’t know if it is the video, or maybe the PC used for the stream was not very good (doubt it) or the aircraft is not very well optimized.

That Radar and other things really seem to be very costly in terms of FPS.

So, when you’re streaming data… in AND out AND also streaming the sim in… it can have a pretty bad effect on frames.

I hope they will let us download assets. It seems like they’re not that concerned about it.

So I watched the stream yesterday and while I have no real interest in the C-130 (er, I mean “Dirty Thirty”) I was pretty interested to see the upcoming Zero and SR-71 discused.

Was there mention of an FS’24-native build of the Corsair? I don’t recall hearing it. But that’s what I’d really like to see in the near term.

So we did mention a couple streams ago that our intention is to eventually rebuild the Corsair from the ground up for 2024. This isn’t an official confirmation though, as our immediate pipeline is heavily focused on the Dirty Thirty, Zero, & SR71.

But that will probably take many months perhaps even years, with everything that you have on your plate. A compatibility update that fixes the freezing gauges/animations but leaves the rest of the aircraft as is would go a long way and be very much appreciated.

Yeah, the latest stream makes a point that 2024 is getting pretty stable and Blackbird is moving over to that platform.

Just as y’all don’t want to spend the bandwidth to develop for two sims, I don’t want to use the bandwidth to maintain add-ons/updates/etc. for two sims. So I’m moving completely off 2020. So it’d be nice if the 2020 planes like the Corsair could at least get basic compatibility updates – I’m happy with the features that are there for now and would like to still be able to fly it. I’ll happily pay for an upgrade a year from now or whenever, but it’d be great to be able to fly the old one in the meantime.

Exactly. I definitely will pay for a native FS2024 Corsair, but I would love to have a working FS2020 Corsair in FS2024 until then.

This is why I’m sticking with FS20 awhile longer, because I don’t feel it’s in a good place yet.

Bandwidth is cheap. Storage is cheap.

So what happens in 3 years - are you going to abandon 2024?

Not necessarily. The problem here is that Asobo/ Microsoft over promised the whole ‘2020 to 2024 compatibility’. Its not as simple as porting one from another, and always involves adjusting it to the new platform - which in some cases means rebuilding the code.

I’ll run this by the team.

In other news, the Dirty Thirty Alpha release has officially landed!

I was lucky to buy it and could download and install it.

First advice: Make sure you install it in the Community folder, installer will default to some imaginary folder, do not install it there.

Disclaimer 1: I only got to fiddle around with the C130J for about 3 hours, consider that when reading my comments.

Initial review: Unusable.

But I’m happy because eventually the product will mature and it only costed me $25, so it’s an investment.

My guess: Considering how long it takes for Blackbird simulations to do things and the state of this alpha I think we are still 1 year away from a definitive relase and that if we are lucky.

Currrent problems I found: Performance is very bad, got a couple of CTDs, couldn’t set fuel from the tablet (this should be an easy fix), FMC has text garbled, font problems, didn’t test other functionalities, trying to start from cold and dark plane started to go backwards, brakes didn’t work, parking brake didn’t work, switching APU on and then electricity to APU gen made my screens went dark, sounds still lacking.

If you ask me, I’m getting tired of this half-baked early release versions of products, I got burned once by FSS and their E-jets with the neverending VNAV. I thought this alpha was going to be a bit better but I think it is a complete cluster of bugs and problems. This is to be expected from an alpha but it surprised me how far the product seems to be from being a release.

I will wait for some videos to see how more patient users could get this flying from cold and dark, how it runs and what they think that would be my recommendation to anyone thinking about buying it now.

To Blackbird: I still have faith, less than before but still have it.

Early release aircraft running on an “early release” simulator, running early release BeyondATC.

Yeah, tired of early release.

How about someone finishing something and then asking for my money.

I thought about the D30, but I can’t keep doing this.

Would you say their claim of 95% feature complete is accurate then?

I think it might be accurate, the problem is how these features run, bugs, etc.
