Anyone else seen this issue?

I didn’t but if you give me an exact location I can give it a try.

i saw that issue aswell, though not only on approaches, one factor seems to be when photogrammetry is around (ignore the melted ship, that got introduced with the WU5)

That’s it! What video card do you have? I’m thinking it’s something to do with gpu.

Happens to on KSEA 16L approach. (North to south approach).

I can confirm that I don’t see this with a 3090 with drivers 471.11.
EDIT: Wrong. I do.

I’m using a Asus strix X5700XT, though a friend with a 2070 having the same issue, near EDHK

I’ll open zendesk. May I link your video in the ticket?

sure! take this one instead YT 1080p

Thanks a lot!

My apologies, I did see the issue while flying low above Paris.

Yes, I have this glitch since before WU 5, thought it would have to do with Bijan’s tree mod - but probably not. It almost certainly only occurs over photogrammetry terrain when transiting through a certain altitude abouve ground (would say some 300 ft).

Thanks all. I’ve opened a zendesk ticket. Who knows, this may just get fixed once we’re go to dx12…

Same problem in photogrammetry area.
very annoying.

This has nothing to do with textures. Trees are no textures, they are 3D objects created at a very low level in the scenery rendering, to allow for lots of trees displayed very fast. While it’s fast, this also has certain limits, funny things happen… in Medium, High and Ultra it looks like this…

Trees are getting smaller on approach

The flickering you see is the same cause. Only you don’t see the pixels, because you don’t see that from the altitude and against the ground texture.

There is no difference between Medium, High and Ultra tree settings, a tree will have a pixelated top when blue sky is behind it. This pixelated top is a showstopper for many scenery screenshots !

In Low Tree Mode, you see these jumps occur, also on ground level, on approach the tree is changing shape and getting smaller

In Low Tree mode, you see a stepwise shrink - you could say “blinking” - but actually, you see a stepwise shrink of the tree when you get near.

I voted here, but what annoys me is that this issue (any tree issue) is spread over numerous topics. As a result the tree issues do not get the attention they deserve, because there is no mention by Jummivana in the Wishes or Bugs top-20, simply because all these different tree topics split the vote.

All 3D objects are texture mapped and what you describe is not the issue we are talking about.

It is. Check it out yourself.

Perhaps but this issue only started happening from one of the last two patches. If what you say is the cause, then this issue would have been there from day 1. As mentioned, I’ve opened a Zendesk ticket. If you have bugs to report, I urge you to do the same with your issue.

You’re right, it is occurring since the last patches. What quality do you run ? High ? Ultra ?

Tree levels Medium, High and Ultra were all made Medium, so the issue is made visible now for a lot of users… same with tree distance. These things are related. This is distance also, but much smaller.

I just posted my videos to explain, it is really not intended as a debate, or attack.

I’m on Ultra for trees.
