Boeing 777-300ER Progress!

I’m not interested in the 777 but would suggest not to use an installer. Everyone is pretty used to unzipping and dunking a folder into the community area, installers seem to get confused if you move the directory, etc.

If you do go with an installer, beat it to death in testing or give people a way to not use the installer if they choose.

I much prefer an installer, it is much easier and plus it’s better than having to download every aircraft separately, and easier to update. If anything goes wrong like moving the directory, then you could easily just re-install it.

When done right, installers can be time savers and convenient. Done wrong, they work for the general installations but fail if people move a directory, use link managers, etc.

I’m not against installers - just installers that don’t cover at least some of the corner cases.

It is sad that the Fly by Wire Airbus development has stagnated a little bit in the previous months and these flawed cockpit textures (ugly bumpmaps which had been implemented early 2021 for no reason making parts of the cockpit looking like styrofoam or cracked lava instead of realistic light plastic and alu material) have not been fixed so far.
That`s why I am happy to see another development team working on a Boeing for some nice diversity.

Hey there!

We will have both options. The first being a direct download (i.e website download zip), and the second being the installer. But, there is a big problem. While these can be easily implemented, they require CDN hosting which can cost up to $2000 for all major regions. We will be attempting to work with FlyByWire after release to see if we can get our plane into their installer. We haven’t talked to them yet, but have plans in the future as CDN hosting costs a-lot.

Alternatively, we can raise funds via our Open Collective and buy small hosting (i.e London, Los Angeles, Sydney) which is about $200-300.

Thanks for your response!

(P.S @JointedOrc6852 I hope this answers your question too!)

Can’t wait sign me up!!! Is this a 2022 delivery?

Hey there!

We hope we can release a public beta v0.1.0 by December 2021 - January 2022 so we can request feedback from all of you! The public beta most likely will not have the features as we said it will (i.e EFB, Sounds, Custom FMC). The public beta will include all systems, working switches (some Inop.), radio panels and working MCP panel. If we add the FMC, it will be be the 747 FMC for TESTING purposes only and will be removed for our custom one.

Thanks!

Ah! Glad you are looking at it. I am just a bit wary of installers. People have even had difficulties with FS2020’s installer. I know - hard to believe.

I dont understand. Isn’t FlyByWire A320 available in Marketplace? Did you guys communicate with Microsoft & Asobo? May be they will accept free content when you guys finish development. Have no clue about licencing or copyright so feel free to correct me if i forgot about those

I am not expert on this topic but you guys are doing enough already by developing a free 777 aircraft for everybody. At least do not stress yourselves with hosting

Any news about the project?

Halted development in February of last year.

Is it going to be free and will it be available for xbox too?

I guess you missed the post above yours where it says “Halted development in February of last year” (2022). So I guess the answer to your question is, no.

Oh okay thanks for telling me.
