Boeing planes...barely usable?

When FS came out I was excited for the Boeings…my favorites to fly. It’s been just under a year since release and they are still horrible. There are a couple of mods but…though they help a little…it’s not enough to make up for the lame Boeings. Why did Asobo even include these? When I saw the Boeings last August I purchased the sim right away…11 months later and there’s hardly any improvements.

I know PMDG is coming out with some but, since it’s been 11 months since the sim was released, can’t Asobo do SOMETHING with the built-in ones?

My question please: anyway to uninstall them? No point in them showing up.

Thanks

You can uninstall them from the Content Manager

LOL I assumed (like a dummy) that i wouldn’t be allowed. THANK YOU!

PMDG 737 should be out before the end of the year! that will be sweet.

787 heavy devision is quite good along Salty Simulations for the 747.

Although these mods have helped both of the Boeing aircraft, in my humble opinion, they are still only marginally flyable. Too many different work-arounds are necessary just to get them off the ground. Unfortunately, Microsobo won’t allow the modders the same level of access that the FBW crew received with the A320neo. My biggest complaint with the HD mod of the 787 is the inability to load in a “Company Route” flightplan without having to use SimBrief, and have it properly displayed in the ND. I guess that is why I’m stuck flying the A32nx, unless I fire up XP and fly FF’S A350XWB.

I have the Premium Deluxe but because of my weak and old PC I cannot fly the airliner (FPS drops to single digits) so I stick to the light GA planes which perform well.

So Im just curious - what are the issues with the 747 & 787? Cant wait to fly them when I get a new rig.

Good question. Yesterday I did a very nice short range flight with the default 787 without any significant problems.

Was that without any mods?

Yes, (this 10 charakter limit is sooo annoying)

My only issue with the Boeing’s is the awful performance, but that being said I’ve barely flown them so am not familiar with issues.

reduce the slider in main settings for glass cockpits that will help your FPS

I have tried that thanks but unfortunately it makes the displays almost unusable because of the slideshow refresh. However this issue is only on airliners. On all the GA planes I have glass refresh on max with no problems.

Im not that concerned as the fun for me in this game is at low level - 5000ft AGL & below

Really?? I have tried the Low setting for refresh rate and I don’t see any noticeable difference let alone a “slide show”. I would really appreciate a short video demonstrating this.

I get the feeling you might have misunderstood me. By slide show I meant the jerky draw update-rate of the PFD & MFD when glass refresh is set to low - NOT the refresh-rate of the game world.

It is that jerky low refresh on the instrument DISPLAYS that I call “slide show”. Kind of like the old car GPS units that couldn’t keep up with the car when you took a turn - it was about 1 sec behind. Enough to be noticeable.

If you honestly are not seeing low draw-updates on the displays even at a low-refresh setting then its an issue with my system.

I shot two short vids. Note the jerkiness of the RPM needle, the compass rose , ALT, AS ribbons on Low setting vs
smooth draw updates on High setting.

When you say “makes the displays almost unusable because of the slideshow refresh”, I assumed you meant that it made the displays almost unusable because of the slideshow refresh. Since I specifically mentioned using Low refresh rate myself. It seems absolutely clear to me…

But I think you seem to have some other issue since when I use Low refresh rate it doesn’t look as bad as that.

I’ve flown the Airbus, the Cessna jets and the DA62X with low refresh rate and didn’t really notice anything that bad. What framerates are you usually getting?

Oh ok, sometimes its hard to know if I was clear or not and with the written word its a bit difficult! Thats why I capitalized some words (it is not me shouting lol, just did that for emphasis)

From your reply I now know that it is in issue on my system but I’ll just accept it. As you can see the displays look fine on the high setting. WIth displays = high I get 30-40FPS out over the boonies. I cant fly over cities, FPS drops to 10 sometimes 5.

Out over very isolated parts of the world (like Amazon) I can get up to 45FPS in small GA planes.

Its just the age of the PC nothing I can do :grinning: I do plan on getting a new rig, the new Intel Alder Lake CPUs are coming and I’ll see how they are and get a new system. Although most likely I’ll be stuck with this 1060 6GB card for a long time because of the global shortage.

Do they look pretty?

The good old Jumbo Jet needs a team like Fly by Wire to overhaul the cockpit, bring the blank computer screens on the side of the cockpit also to life like Fly by Wire did with that awesome FlyPad™, and we would have Queen of the Skies visual quality with lot´s of system depth and all cockpit switches and buttons and EICAS and other goodies … fully functional.

Unfortunately the good old Jumbo Jet does not seem to have as many fans as the Airbus and is lacking a true passionate hobby development team taking care of if  but maybe some day this will change.
