Bravo throttle quadrant a320 autopilot managed altitude [SOLVED]

Hello Pilots,

I need a bit of help… I installed a BTQ.
After watching videos and reading topics, I think my mapping is correct. I have more of an autopilot question.

While using the mouse to configure autopilot, a down click on the altitude nob will adjust vertical speed while maintaining IAS, similar to FLCH mode on 787.
But when I am doing that with the BTQ it does not seem to work.
I can set an altitude, set a VS but I cant seem to have the autopilot managed the climb or descent?
Pressing the alt button on the BTQ will just set the altitude to current and hold it.

Second question: in the 787, the NAV button from the BTQ does work but the LNAV button on the screen does not turn on, although the plane is clearly in LNAV mode.

Thank you for your help !!!

Disclaimer: I have no experience in the 787 so this is more of a general rant.

I suppose when you click on the altitude knob with the mouse, it will align the selected altitude to your indicated ditto without changing mode?
There is no way to press the knobs on the Bravo, so I’m not sure what you mean when you say that the same thing doesn’t work there?

Anyway, in the default configuration (which may need a little massage to be fully functional) you select an altitude with the rightmost knob while the left knob is on ALT. Then you press IAS or VS to switch mode.

Now the AP will typically be waiting for you to indicate how fast you want to fly (IAS) or how fast you want to climb or descend (VS). To do that you move the left knob to IAS or ALT depending on what mode you selected and turn the rightmost knob.

Be aware that with manual throttle you may have to adjust it for things to begin to happen. E.g., if you set the IAS speed to 210 kts. the plane will not descend unless it has to pitch down to achieve that speed.

Thank you for your time.
It actually works. I guess I wasn’t pushing the right buttons.
Setting the alt then pushing the IAS button will engage the descent/climb.

Thanks again

No problem, and thank you for reporting back.
I suggest you mark the thread “Solved”.
