Bring back realistic colours and look from 2020

In the two pictures the satellite data looks like it is from different times of the year.

The FS24 plane seems to be flying over a minor river which does not exist in the FS20 image.
There are more buildings in the FS24 image and individual trees, which implies more accuracy.

However once again FS24 autogenerated trees look too tall/big, reducing them to 50%-75% may help.

I didn’t see a comment. But when the devs see the evidence of autogen trees as tall as skyscrapers in city locations in FS24, I’m sure they will be prototyping solutions to improve the trees.

the planes are not in the exact same position, although it is the same area
i agree in about the trees though
they are what’s breaking realism in 2024 for me (i understand others dont see it that way)
if they were smaller, better placed, better colored and less of them… the realism of 2024 would improve 10x
for me at least

I found that by using the Nvidia filters I could deepen the shadows slightly and for me that did the trick to get a better visual experience in 2024.

The more I use it the more convinced I am! There are some lighting conditions and areas where 2024 looks ok but overall 2020 looks much better

I think that your video highlights the problem perfectly. Although the general lighting in fs2024 is definitely better, in MSFS the ground texture colours are more uniform and cohesive, but in fs2024 there are too many different colours in the same area, creating a coloured-in and more artificial look.

Thanks for the video - as always, it’s a matter of personal taste as to which is better or not. MSFS2024 has the more realistic lighting, the yellow cast from MSFS2020 is finally gone - but there are enough filters ReShade or NVIDIA that can restore that anyway - so there are tools - so you use them too before you change everything for everyone because of the taste of some.
The thing what you can also see in the video is that the weather engine, despite some feedback and bugs, has remained the same, that’s rather the sad thing..anyway…I wouldn’t call MSFS2020 a realistic look..compared to X-Plane both look like a cartoon…but that’s just a personal taste…didn’t want to compare the sims now !

Unfortunately not in VR

ououu, yes ! that´s true ! :unamused:

My imagination might be going wild but I swear that 2024 now has that horrible orange/red colour cast that it did not have upon release. The OP may have had their wish granted!

2020 colors were not realistic at all unless you were using something like Rex Atmos. But I agree that 2024 ones are even worse. They toned up that orange/sepia tone even more than in 2020. Now It looks Mars simulator…

There are definitely areas of the sim that could use improvement, especially if you fly career mode which always seems to take place during mid day. but in free flight being able to adjust time and get the lighting and some weather can make things look great. here are some of my contributions

I think the orange tone is a problem with their windshield graphic effects. I can stand outside the plane and not see the orange tone but when I jump into the plane the orange tone is visible.

I loaded up FS 2020 for just a short time to test against a bug or two that I found in FS 2024, completely unrelated to graphics, but I did notice how much more cartoonish 2020 looks compared to 2024 in terms of colors, so I won’t be going back to 2020, at least not for the visuals anyway.

No thanks, 24 has much better lighting

For arcade style game sure, like candy crush. But for simulation, no at all.

That is not credible, neither msfs2020 or msfs2024 has the color palette of “candy crush”.

2024 daytime sky colors look like FSX..

No, thank you.

Hard disagree with this. Colours / lighting in 2024 are much more realistic. Please do NOT change them MS/Asobo!
