Britten Norman Trislander (Study Level) AVAILABLE NOW

You get support. With freeware, you get what you get. If you get support with it, you’re lucky. With payware, if they take your money and don’t give what’s promised/advertised, it’s called fraud. From what I see, that’s far from the case here! I’m likely getting this one tomorrow - too close to bed to spend download and flight time.

As another poster said .. Your warranty is that we will support you as an individual customer and attempt to make good any issue you may come across.
Your comment that is can’t be refunded is also false as we will happily refund any product that can not
be made to perform as advertised or after failing to rectify serious issues caused by the product.

What I meant by invalidating your warranty is the simple fact that we can NOT Support products that have been altered, modded or otherwise not as supplied.

The flight model uses MSFS Latest CFD and Propeller physics.
It is very new with little documentation, but we will investigate the damage sensitivity

Is anyone able to help with how to use the paint kit? I would like to have a go at changing the prop spinner colours but I cant even figure out how to get into the paint kit!
Do I need to unzip the folder and if so where do I unzip it to, can I just create a new folder to unzip it in?
There are 2 files in the folder BN2-EX1 and Wing-alb. I cant open those files I think I need a special programme to open them. It says they are GIMP files and I do have GIMP but have never used it before.

there is No Folder ?
Inside the zip are two PSD (Photoshop layered images)
I think Gimp can load these but Im not sure

Once loaded .. you should be able to see the spinner areas quite clearly

I had a look once, and I found very little in the online SDK docs about CFD.

I rest my case Your Honour

I tried to open with GIMP but says unknown file type and would not load the file, I wouldn’t know what to do even if it did!

you need something that will open a Layered PSD Sorry
Although I am CURIOUS How your doin the Aurigny paints ??

I’m not, I don’t have a clue and would probably end up breaking something, I just was curious if I could have a go at changing the prop colour now that the update made that possible to have one red and one white spinner one the wings and a red one on the tail.
Not sure if it was you posting on the Britten Norman facebook group but as simple as painting a coloured square on a texture was what i nwas told, that does sound simple, but I think its not nquite as simple as that, like how do you even paint a colour on a square, how do you geet the right colour. Gives me a lot of respect for people who can do full liveris it all sounds rather mind boggling to me!

I am actually quite good at painting using Microsoft paint but have a feeling its not quite the same as physically using a paintbrush /pencil or whatever to paint anyway this is kind of going of the topic of the Trislander so better leave it to the pros!

You sound like you just need an introduction to the basics to get you going. I don’t know how to do it myself but if you are good with MS Paint, I am willing to bet you could learn how to do liveries.
Keep at it, it would be cool to see you eventually bring a livery to the TrIslander group!

Paint.NET perhaps ( free, but there are better free options ) - MS paint is a little below the bar

Liveries are generally more like graphic design than painting, though - lots of single colour shapes.

Great to see these pics. Glad to see people enjoying my repaints, and I should be back to it tomorrow. Had the weekend pretty packed with stuff to do. I think G-PCAM might be up next

Sure am enjoying them! Saw you flying yesterday and landed at Alderney but did not have the other liveries then so you appeared as some single engine GA aircraft. I have all your Aurigny now so I will see all as Trislanders (well all Aurigny ones that is!) Maybe one day you could do G-BEVT with the different colour prop spinners

I have been trying to fly using VOR today, but cannot figure out how to do it, normally I would use NAV 2 but that does not seem to exist on the Trislander, if it does it is well hidden!

Minor bits and bobs, which may or may not be bugs or not:

  1. It is impossible to change the Com 1 frequency in the sat-nav before the Nav/Com/xponder switch is up and on. That is to say the sat-nav will turn on and function, everything can be edited, except the Com 1 frequency which will not change when you turn the knob. Maybe realistic, dunno.
  2. The door locking/stall warning alarm when trying to open the left door with the magneto is on is absent. Bit of a rivet-counter detail there, but it is in the POH procedures.
  3. Totally agree that the plane is way over sensitive to destructing due to ‘overstressing’. Just lost another flight because I was trying to descend at 1000 fpm and make a gentle turn at the same time. Speed was a little, but not far in the yellow, butI was being very careful, and not flying through cloud.
  4. Is the autopilot a little aggressive in its bank angles, or is this how the real plane is? Bit of a rollercoaster in bank.

A positive:
I mentioned that the sounds weren’t quite up to my beloved Nimbus Islander, but I was wrong. These sounds are better. Going back to the Nimbus, it sounds very synthetic compared to this. Strange how one’s memory works. What I liked about the Nimbus was the ‘tonal’ quality to the engine, which is how I remember the sound as a child. And while this sounds a bit closer to the raspy/white noise side, the ‘notey-ness’ IS indeed present, and the beating between engines is excellent. If I had the option I might like to EQ it a bit to bring out the low mids of that boomy ‘note’, but the engines do sound good anyhow. (It sounds a little like it was recorded on a camcorder or phone, so it wasn’t picking up the low frequencies so much)

NAV2 sureley does exist !
The Analog Radio set under the GPS is all Nav/Comm 2 and the VOR Gauge is in the middle above the throttles ( OR on the Aspen)

If you see the diagram in the Tutorial doc you will see it as 41) Bendix/King KX155 TSO VHF 2 Radio

  • NAV2 absolutely does.exist, above turn & slip ( or the prop pitch levers, if you can’t see turn & slip! )
  • Push the CDI button on the Garmin until you get VLOC as nav source, and then just tune NAV1 on that & you’ll get your VOR on the instrument in front of you ( and the AP should also follow it, hopefully! ). The smaller needle on the ADF instrument will point at it too.

If you’re new to radio nav, one thing that gets passed up often is that you can use TACAN stations as DME with normal radio nav gear. ( TACAN is more or less a military VORDME system, albeit sometimes the stations are moving! ).

Haha nice! Yeah, I’ll get around to it now that the update accomodates for the different spinners. I’ve got a decent plan for what liveries I wanna get done this week so I’m sure it’ll find its way into the plan…don’t hold me to that though!
