Had a great flight buzzing around the Caribbean island hopping with the Trislander, getting to know her a bit now. I’m liking it!
the carenado pa28 at one point had no illuminaion. if you landed at night you couldnt see anything.
its crucial in this sim, as for some strange reason Asobo has most airports pitch black at night with no apron lights.
I like how with this aircraft you can actually see where you are going
Anyone with the Xbox version get the Aspen PFD working?
I click the sticker and nothing happens.
Yes - works fine for me - haven’t had any issues at all. Very strange. I’m using a mouse to select though, haven’t tried with the controller.
does your mouse pointer change when you hover over the sticker ?
Can you try it with a controller?
I hit the stick to get the cursor up, click the PFD and the cursor disappears, and I have to hit the stick to get the cursor back again, but no PFD.
You get the PFD tooltip.
Just tried it for you. I couldn’t get it to work with my controller… I’d highly recommend using a wireless mouse with the controller though if you haven’t tried it -I i couldn’t do without one now.
yeah, mouse here… i switched to mouse a few months back and its a much better experience! works seamlessly alongside controller
Agreed on using a wireless mouse. I use a wireless mouse, Hotas One and a wireless mini keyboard that snaps into the xbox controller, works great!
I’m mid flight and just read this. Never knew it was there.
Yes works for me using a mouse click.
I hate using a mouse when I’m in the living room sitting on my couch in front of a 65" tv🤨
with the islander, BS also didn’t manage to make all the functions of an aircraft operable with the controller. with the islander, it’s the doors and hatches that can only be opened and closed sporadically with the controller. why that’s the case now with the trislander, despite knowing it again, is beyond me.
Question - One of my engines (right side) shortly after takeoff this morning dropped to 0 manifold pressure though the RPM’s were still up, but the engine was clearly not functioning well. I did check icing and none of the engines were in the yellow, I did give her a little heat anyway to no avail.
I continued my flight trying to troubleshoot and flying with 2 engines, but couldn’t figure it out, she had no manifold pressure the whole flight. I feathered the prop after a bit of flying, continued my short 45 min journey and landed safely, was pretty cool to have an issue to try and solve since I was not flying for real. Any tips or insight? Thanks!
as far were aware the doors can be opened with no problem whatsoever when using the switches provided …
If your having trouble then please explain in detail as the reason for this is “beyond me”
It certainly sounds like Icing …
The Cure would be to apply Carb Heat for at Least ten seconds on the affected engine and then return to the off (or very low) Position
The only other issue would be either Mixture or some unintended failure applied “behind the scenes” bu MSFS
I will try that next time, thanks!
Yes I managed this quite recently, not sure if my setup will help you but here goes. I’m using SPAD.neXt to map the 3 fuel pumps to a single switch on the Logitech Switch Panel by assigning the parameter numbers 4, 5 and 10 for the MSFS event FUELSYSTEM_PUMP_ON and …OFF (i found these by using the Data Monitor in SPAD and then a bit of trial and error).
You could do the same using a separate switch with the Tip Tank Port and Starboard switches using parameter numbers 8 and 9.
I have also mapped the carb heat to another switch for full on/off on this device for quickness, and in addition mapped it to the pitch trim wheel on the Logitech/Saitek Autopilot panel for variable increments to keep it > 0 deg C mid-flight in icing conditions. Works a treat.
Hello, hive-mind!
If you’re like me, you like to use SimBrief (and Navigraph) to prepare your flight plans for MSFS2020.
Problem? The Trislander (and Islander) aren’t there. (grumpy panda)
I used the Twin Otter (DHC-6-300) airframe for the Islander. That is here. If you’d like to, please feel free to use it! If you run across anything that is wrong / should be tweaked, please let me know and I will adjust it.
Ok, so for the Trislander… I have been having a hard time locating the information we need, and if applicable, the figures I’ve got jotted down as of now:
- ICAO Code (TRIS)
- Aircraft Name (Britten-Norman Trislander)
- Engines (LYCOMING O-540-E4C5)
- Civil Registration (Your choice!)
- Fin Number (Your choice!)
- SELCAL Code (I don’t think it has this?)
- ICAO Mode-S Code (Not sure what that is)
- Radio/Nav Equipment (those ICAO codes… I mean, I might be able to figure them out, but if you know what they are, please let me know! Right now I have SDFGRZ)
- Transponder Equipment (same as above, right now I have C)
- PBN Capability (same as above, right now I have D2)
- Max Passengers (17)
- OEW (I think it’s 5,842 lbs)
- MZFW (not sure)
- MTOW (10,000 lbs)
- MLW (10,000 lbs)
- Max Fuel Capacity (1110 lbs)
- Max Cargo Weight (3657 lbs)
- Fuel Factor (I’ve got the figure I worked out for the Islander at the moment, which is M71 from the DHC-6)
- Service Ceiling (13,156’)
- Cruise Level Offset (P0000)
