Broken airport ground textures on various 1st & 3rd party airports (i.E. Grass)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: I have a strange “circle” of grass textures of max. 30-50m around my plane on various 3rd party airports (see pictures below with the light green grass texures pointing out the problem). The grass textures won’t load around this circle and the “circle” is moving with the airplane. Beside this circle of textures I can only see the aerial image. I didn’t realize the problem before SU1 to be honest. Thanks for your support.

PS: I raised this topic already yesterday but it was gone somehow today.

Asobo EGLC has blue grass in the water.

I have sent in a support ticket.

Same issue here at the new SBRJ, grass tiles popping up when moving closer.

Hello all,

Firstly, thanks for the Sim Update 19 which finally shows some love to South America.

I would like to report a bug that just happens in MSFS 2024, not in MSFS 2020. This is a bug at SBRJ airport that appeared after the release of Sim Update 19. Since this does not occur in MSFS 2020, I believe it can be fixed in MSFS 2024.

Even though the new Gaya scenery is amazing, Paulo Ricardo’s paid scenery of SBRJ airport is excellent and many people who have already purchased it may prefer to continue using it, just like me. I believe that the photogrammetry of the city of Rio de Janeiro is interfering with the aerial image of Paulo Ricardo’s scenery, causing an annoying flickering as we walk back and forth.

This can be seen in the video below and also occurs in Galeão SBGL, if any scenery with aerial imagery is used. I think it would be interesting to perhaps crop this area to allow scenario designers to use aerial images there. It’s a bit strange because in MSFS 2020 this same problem does not occur.

Looking forward for the fix,

Thank you

Many third party sceneries are displaying this. I think, but am not sure, it’s been brought up in the Developers Forum. Perhaps contact Paulo Ricardo and see what he has to say.

I spoke to him, he is updating the scenery removing the whole city he had to adapt it to the photogrammetry, but he has nothing else to do regarding this flickering instead of just wait for the fix. In MSFS 2020 that doesn’t happen so I guess it can be fixed. The easiest and quickest solution would be for the scriptwriters to remove the aerial image, but I believe that this would be too simplistic and would limit the options of each scriptwriter too much and would take away the potential that each scenery can have.

So does that mean he’s been in contact with the Asobo Devs and is waiting for them to fix it? I think it might be a bug in the SDK.

I don’t know if he’s in contact with Asobo regarding it, but we are all waiting for a fix.

I have seen texture problems posted in the Dev forum but nothing like this, unless I missed it, and like I said it’s happening with other 3rd party airports.

When it’s reported as a bug in this forum the post gets moved because the bug reports involve 3rd party airports.

If I was a dev, I would post this issue in Asobo’s Dev forum to make sure it gets the attention it needs.

Thank you very much for your advice. I will forward it.

Out of interest, this occurs at default MSFS 2024 airports as well.
This is EGLC.
I have sent in a support ticket.
In my view, it is for Asobo to fix, not the developer.

Same problem with all those 3rd party airports

Same problem with LSZH - Zurich. I didn’t try my other airports in Switzerland yet, like BSL/GVA, which i also have separate payware airports installed from MSFS2020, but let you know…

I’m wondering if this has something with the issue I observed. Since yesterday I’ve lost taxiway lines on default sceneries.

I’m having the same issue with the grass, for example on my 3rd party EGNT airport. Looks terrible!

This has been bug logged in the developer’s forum. No ETA on a fix.

Came looking for anyone else with the same problem at EGNT, glad in a way that I found your post. Just downloaded and installed the 2024 version of EGNT and it’s still exhibiting the same issue.

Also happening in LSZH.

I noticed as well that some airports like KSFO from Flightbeam have this overly reflective mask on the grass, making it appear more white. I did not notice this before SU1.

I have seen the same problem at LSZH. No fun at the moment.
