Browser-based remote control for FBW A32NX

I have:

  1. Removed the dark text background
  2. Removed the white rectangles
  3. Trimmed the buttons’ width and height
  4. Adjusted widths to balance the central panels

To me it looks more like a real overhead, apart from the switches. The switches work really well on a touch screen, I think a grey would be better than green for highlighting the switch position.

Paul wrote the original for VR use, I have tried to mimic the A32NX overhead 3D layout for use on a touch screen. CPU, GPU are FPS loadings are too low to measure - it also runs on different cores to MSFS.

What do non-VR simmers think of this prototype layout?

If anybody were to come up with a cleanly written(!) “realistic” layout I am certainly up for adding it to the main repository as a selectable option. Unfortunately my personal work schedule does not allow me to actively contribute to such efforts, but, as already stated, I will of course support them by adding necessary ids and CSS classes to the HTML.

I also gave the technical aspect some thought: as any “realistic” setup will only know one single layout, and fluid resizing is not a requirement - have you thought about positioning all elements using absolute? Possibly even using a fixed background “photo” of the real panel?

I agree we should look at how popular a more realistic overhead would be, before committing a lot of effort to package it.
My interest was partly technical, realising the great potential of a network solution in a browser. I wanted to see how it worked and what could be achieved.

Regarding realistic background images Air Manager is an existing solution, including network support and automatic loading/unloading of panels by plane type, plus hardware interfacing.
It’s not free but low cost compared to total PC hardware costs.

I’ve been looking at an A32NX overhead on Air Manager - it’s realistic just like the MSFS 3D view.

There are some niggly issues that can be fixed in Lua code. Also it is out of sync with latest FBW (radio removed, switch variables have changed). Probs better to spend dev effort on that.
