BRSimDesigns E121A1-XINGU II

BRSimDesigns has released their E121A1-XINGU II. I haven’t purchased it yet since I only see it listed on SimMarket, which I won’t buy from anymore. (I’m not too fond of the required desktop app) The video by AvAngel has sold me on it. For under $20, this aircraft looks excellent! BRSimDesigns has a positive reputation for quietly listening to the community and implementing updates, fixes, and feature requests. I’m sure we’ll find stuff to nitpick, but I find the price to be right.

Once I can get this from somewhere other than SimMarket, I’ll be picking this up immediately. (Just Flight is my preferred website)

Feel free to discuss your thoughts and experiences. Screenshots are welcome. Please keep your opinions civil.

There’s already a thread on this aircraft.

Where? I searched and couldn’t find it.

I had searched for a topic on this aircraft before creating this one and never found it. After seeing the above comment, I searched again and did find it, but it was rather difficult to find. I’ll let someone else decide if they should be merged. The other topic is from January and was talking about the announcement. The topic was created by the developer but never says who the developer is. (Which is why I couldn’t find it by searching for “BRSimDesigns”) He’s Bruno Reichert on Youtube, ReichertB on the forums, and BRSimDesigns as a company.

@JollyGreen8206 posted the link above, but I only knew about the topic because it’s been popping up in my list for the last couple of weeks as people are commenting on it regularly. I didn’t originally do a search for it. But, as mentioned, that topic was created by the developer of the product.

Hallo, thanks for all the updates. The aircraft feels now more “real”. One thing i still wonder. If you hold the aircraft up with the stick during landing, it will float forever and the stall speed is really low at 50 or so.

I’m very tempted to finally get this, but I wanted to check in on this thread and see how it’s faring in July. I see some negative reviews speaking to things like climb and cruise performance being off. Has that changed, or is that even an issue from most peoples’ perspectives? Or, more generally, does anyone who has owned this for a while find that there’s something holding them back from still flying it? Thanks in advance!

Responding to Stardrfter2232 – I have only owned the Xingu II for about a week, so I’m not sure I can give you much insight. Cruise performance seems reasonable to me, in that the specs say ceiling 28,000 and I can see a typical cruise altitude to be 20,000 to 25,000 feet. It seems to do about what I’d expect at those heights.

The climb seems brisk, but I don’t have any real-world Xingu II numbers to compare it to on climb rate. PT6’s can be rockets. I do know with a full load of fuel and pax, you do notice it.

I have yet to test the stall speed and stall handling. It has a stick shaker and auto stick-forward but I haven’t put the plane into a stall yet to see, I’ve only seen the preflight stick shaker test.

Seems pretty controllable on landing, I kick off the AP and of course you control the throttle, and it seems to respond well to power changes if I’m a little low or a little high on final approach.

It does now have TDS750 GTN integration and yes it does follow the magenta line, it’s not just for show. So far I do like this plane and it’s inexpensive, and since we don’t have one of the little King Air’s in the sim (C90?) the Xingu II is a good Brazilian airplane to substitute for a KA.

I just wonder what “PX heat” is. It’s not probe heat because that’s another switch.

I may be wrong but Im pretty sure it is Passenger Heat ( PX= PAX ? )

Oh yes, that makes sense, thank you – I guess I have been freezing out my pax

Hi,
I’ve made a lot of flights in this plane. It is very good, I would say a lot better than most GA planes in MSFS and a step below add-ons like the C414, C310 or the Blacksquare Analogs. But in terms of bugs no, there’s nothing significant.
The dev made a lot of effort to keep everybody happy about the GPS, WeatherRadar and many small details from its release.
Cruise and climb performance seem to be good but I never flew a Xingu irl.
It is a very nice plane to fly, I totally recommend it with the disclaimer that it is difficult to know if your standards are similar to mine.

Thanks for the replies! I’ve since bought it and flown it at least a half a dozen times. I have to say, it’s the best addon by far from BRSim and now one of my favorite addons in general. It has just enough systems depth to be engaging, it has incredibly smooth performance, looks like a dream inside and out. I really can’t speak highly enough about it. I also can’t really say for sure it’s “by the books” but I have watched a ton of footage of a Xingu II pilot on YouTube and it seems pretty close to on the numbers to me. The only thing that seems tricky to me is hitting max cruise speed. My ground speed is very often up there, but my indicated always seems surprisingly slow. But again, videos I’ve watched make me think it’s pretty darn close. WELL worth the asking price.

I agree, it is well worth the asking price. I enjoy simulating short-range pax flights and while I do own the excellent FlySimware C414, the BrSim Xingu II is to me a different type of airplane or there is a different type of flying I do with it.

I should see if I can do the approach into Chagual, Peru, with the Xingu.

Also, I love the night lighting in this, the orange-ish look of the upper panel and the pleasant glow of the lower.

One question though - does the weather radar do anything? I haven’t tried in a full-on storm or anything yet, but I haven’t seen it pick anything up yet even when flying near rain to my (guessing) 1-2 o’clock with my range all the way out to 50nm.

I feel silly asking because it’s probably obvious, but how does one get this really nice green lighting? I just get a slightly yellow-white light when I turn the glareshield light up. EDIT: The more I look at this picture, the more I’m thinking it’s just the normal light on the darker grey panel?

Edit again: It’s pretty darn green in this shot from the SimMarket page. What’s weird though is if I share that exact image here, it looks less green. If I screenshot their page (second image) it’s way more green.

I haven’t seen the radar do anything. But I need to load up a nice heavy rainstorm and see if it shows something. In the manual it says you have to let it warm up for 70 seconds, I don’t know if they’re referring to the real-life radar unit or if they modelled that.

I think a lot of the coloration comes down to your monitor and the way it is calibrated etc. and you can adjust this to some extent in Windows display settings.
Also the color you see could also have to do with the two different panel colors you can choose from in the EFB.

I just briefly switched over to nighttime the other day to see what it looked like. I haven’t spent much time in that cockpit at night as of yet – but I need to.

Ah, there’s clearly some way to make it green. Found these two files. Going to see if I can figure it out, or check and make sure I didn’t miss it in the manual.

Hm interesting, I’ll take a look at those two fx files.

I wish there was a San Jose dos Campos scenery for MSFS. That is the EMBRAER HQ down in Brazil. I just flew into there and plan to fly the Xingu back up to my home base in the USA.

I actually just had a thought. I’m going to back up the original files, then rename the green one to the regular filename to see if that swaps it. My thought is there’s still some way to toggle it, but I can’t for the life of me find a way.
