The only thing we can hope is to have the fix with the next WU… so at least 3 weeks with no flights for me
Me Too I use the Desktop Aviator trim wheel, worked perfect prior to the Xbox toy thing.
My elevator trim is useless, like the whole sim now cant use it if your constantly on the yoke trying to fly level. What a mess Asobo!
Man, I spent all day thinking it was some type of bug that I could fix in the options area,
I restarted, verified, redownloaded only to find out some planes work just fine. I was so ■■■■■■ when update 5 came in and all my controls got reset and some bugs with the Xbox controller does not work anymore for slew mode, because of all the loss, I did not touch this game for a while, came back put it in the work to rebind everything, only to find out that trim doesn’t work, oh the rage… lol
Same issue for me : I use the honeycomb bravo, and when I perform a slight movement on the trim wheel, the plane goes strongly up or down. It is impossible to fly level (it was ok before SU5)
Does anyone know if there’s a way to stop those clicking sounds until this is fixed?
I’ve fixed it by sadly stoping playing this game
Cub Crafter…
Just noticed this. On the ground prior to take off the trim is correct. Once I lift off the trim goes full down position and stays there. My trim setting on my throttle (X-56) has zero effect.
Do we really need to wait until the next big update to have this bug fixed? Since SU5 I stopped flying because of this bug … this is unbelievable
Same for me… It seems the Elevator trim axis is now delegated only for aircraft with manual trim. Electric Trim aircraft need to have a new assignment labled “Elevator Trim Up (Nose Up)” and “Elevator trim Down (Nose Down)” - However, in some addon (non-default) aircraft, both will work. For some others still, the manual trim or trim axis is inverted or does not work at all.. I also noticed that in the aircraft where an elevator AXIS is mapped, there is no way to get the full range of motion form the axis. it seems to have an extremity dead zone whether you want it or not.
Does anyone know if this has been acknowledged by the devs yet (with a fix date)? I’ve hit the “Vote” button a long time ago.
This regression introduced by SU5 is utterly bananas. In my C172 Steam Guage one click up on the trim causes the plane to eventually climb 500fpm, and vice versa for down.
That is so far from reality that it’s impossible to fly level now without ALSO re-adjusting throttle. E.g. Flying APT had to become APTP, which is dumb beyond compare. The “deluxe” 172 is grounded ![]()
The title of the thread has been changed by adding “BUG LOGGED”, so I think they somehow know about it. The fact however is that this bug is a complete game-breaker and it’s been a month since I’ve stopped using MSFS.
They pushed a fix for incorrect temperatures (which was a game-breaker too) and they did well, I would like to know however why this bug is still there.
I have reinstalled the game, updated aircraft and it is still so bad I don’t want to fly anything. Maybe its great on X box but GA aircraft are ■■■■ now.
Clicking sounds usually are the result of a bad binding (I.e. - depending on the kind of switch you’re binding, it needs to be bound to toggle on and off OR to “set”).
Look around the cockpit when you hear clicking and see if any of the controls are “vibrating” (turning on and off constantly) or acting funny.
Good luck.
I have this clicking in DA-40 when rotating trim wheel by moving bound axis on my controller.
I see on a stick in the plane that trim buttons constantly switch up and down.
But I do not have anything bound to digital inputs Elevator Trim Up or Trim Down.
There are only trim left/right for rudder and ailerons on default keyboard profile which I do not press.
Just wanted to add my two cents to the trim issue as well.
As others have said - trim wheel and buttons on the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo result in massive 500+ FPM changes in elevation even with the smallest of touches.
Vanilla profiles and custom profiles. Vanilla install, no mods and no dev mode.
Tested on the 152, 172 Classic and 172 G1000.
Same behavior using the default keyboard bindings and clicking the wheel in the virtual cockpit.
As a MSFS newbie returning after a year’s hiatus this makes the basic GA planes extremely challenging for me to fly and I imagine it’s scared away countless new pilots who don’t know any better and decide flying is just hard as hell.
Over one month has passed and still no news. How can a bug with 220+ votes can be ignored like this is beyond me …
You are not alone to be surprised that a game breaking bug is absolutely not listed in the Top bugs, where “game breaking bugs” are supposed to get the highest priority for dev to fix it.
Anyway : the trim is working on some plane at -50 +50 instead of -100 +100
Work perfectly on some community freeware planes that use the “old” trim system.
What a shame
I really hope they can fix the trim issues in the next update. I was trying to set it up for the justflight warrior iii and no matter the settings under trim sensitivity it was still leaping all over the place. I gave up and tried the stock 152 only to discover that now the trim was reversed up was down and down was up! Not only that but with trim settings at default positions the range was drastically reduced when pushing the lever to the nose down position compared to the range of movement toward nose up. Nothing I tried in the settings made any difference to this. And then twice during these processes I got bumped out to desktop. I’ve given up for now. When I got this sim back in August '20 it worked a ■■■■ sight better than it does today! It’s heart breaking having invested a lot of money in hardware and software for it, not to be able to do the simplest of flights without leaping about the sky in uncontrollable maneuvers. I’m beginning to wish I’d invested in X-Plane instead ![]()

For heavens sake, they are messing about with racing games and trimotor add ons and yet the basic trim does not work after their “upgrade” what is the matter with these guys…
Sence a note of frustration? you are correct…
