Buyer's remorse after purchasing planes

Even for digital goods? How does it work with stores that does not offer refunds?

It doesn’t really matter what the store offers, if it’s the law they need to comply.

I don’t have the ATR but I really want the ATR. I don’t have it because so many people hate it and I’m sure it’ll annoy me.

I’m sure it’s the most love it or hate it plane in the game, it seems 50% for and against.

That’s why I am asking. How it works in practice? How do you request a refund from MS Marketplace for example? Contact support via email and they send you a refund without any questions?

It’s much easier to get a refund if you use Paypal. They haven’t failed me yet. Even when a particular developer told me point blank they never issue refunds, Paypal got it for me.

I guess that’s one way to ensure that every 3rd party plane you buy is a demo. :slightly_smiling_face:

Right, but you could try Lossless Scaling for x2 x3 fps. Really

The HondaJet is very nice!

One of my favorites.

You love the Fenix like I do but I still got the ATR to scratch the Dash 8 itch which it does……just

Despite its faults it’s definitely one of the better budget aircraft at the Ā£16 it cost me especially when you consider some of the quality that’s been coming out around that price lately.

There are tonnes of liveries and you get to see a lovely prop out of the cabin window instead of the normal jet engine.

I’ve definitely had Ā£16 enjoyment (maybe even Ā£20 or Ā£25 worth) but it does have its faults as long as you are eyes open to that when you purchase.

The wealthiest developer in FS would have been the one who developed a decent DASH 8 2 years ago. It’s not like it would of taken any more effort than any airliner or complicated twin. The wealthiest developer in FS next year would have been the one whom released a DASH 8 this year.

Same.

I know this was put in as a wishlist item, and I was surprised by how many people were against the idea. Sorry, I could watch a hundred reviews raving about a DLC, but that doesn’t mean I’m personally going to enjoy it.

I fully agree that there has to be one of two things.A free trial or a refund. If that is not acceptable proposition then refund for an aircraft for which a bug has been logged especially which has multiple issues being reported by different people. An aircraft may have different issues with different people. PC users may have different problems then what Xbox users are facing.I am particularly off with ATR from day one.I like the aircraft but totally frustrated with it and so many out there like me when I read about issues with this aircraft.I had suggested that any such aircraft must be immediately taken off the Marketplace till issues with it are resolved.Same should apply to other aircraft as well.
I think it’s Microsoft/Asobo’s obligation to ensure that substandard products are not allowed to be presented and if someone falls for it unknowingly refunds are initiated or atleast credit created to purchase something within or a higher amount adding the difference.
In the end I would surely recommend to take all the time reading reviews/ tutorials on YouTube before your purchase and buy only those planes which are dear to your heart and perform well.

I’ve pretty much already decided to just wait for a good dash 8. In Straya they’re not flying ATR anyway, Virgin returned their few. ANZ have them but it’s Fokker 100 and Dash 8 here.

The Qantas Dash 8s are being replaced by A220 and I’d be very excited to get a very high quality one of those.

But who knows, maybe if the ATR was discounted I’d grab it just for the FOMO.

Well there’s the kinda-sorta ā€˜cheat’ of using flight sim ā€˜credits’ instead of an actual content purchase, and a somewhat archaic store system that makes it a bit difficult to just have that ā€˜free trial’. HOWEVER, some of it is due to having access to the actual files on PC. Which of course is a requirement for the typical FS user to allow for freeware or their own personal mods to these items.

For MSFS you can go right into your purchase and tinker with it. I’m sure XB is structured the same way but much easier to simply block any sort of file browser access for users. A PC created mod can obviously be put right in the XB version, if allowed. I’d imagine something would have to be baked into the updates/purchases themselves and have them completely inaccessible to users to implement a ā€˜trial’. Akin to the typical game ā€˜car pack’ or loot/weapons packs in other games.

You’d probably have to give up the access we have, where we can go right in and change things around the way we like them, and the balance we have with developers that decide to leave certain aspects unencrypted for their customers. It’s been 40 years of this type of access, and we expect it. I’ve never thought to go into Forza and change the car model files around. I have add-ons that I’ve bought and already had some freeware alterations at the ready before I even tried it yet.

It still surprises me at times that this game IS available on a console, it’s a pretty bold move and I’m sure there’s a lot of decisions made that are not perfect ones to allow it to continue on in it’s near fully accessible state. Not many games just leave the ability to completely wreck it in place.

Part of the reason they are quite contentious with seemingly simple refunds is that should you buy something you don’t like(or performance is bad, or the add-on is actually bad and passed through QC anyway), you can get a ā€˜refund’ and you still have the item. There’s a lot of good faith involved. Say it gets major updates and becomes the best add-on ever, you technically have it for free. If everything was 100% encrypted so they could give/take it away, nobody would want add-ons that are only ever in one state with zero changes possible outside of an update.

I can’t say I love everything about it, but I still like the way it is. I wouldn’t want it wrapped into the same system that a ā€˜regular game’ is. Remember how much we complained when the default aircraft (that you paid for already) were ā€˜locked out’.

For $15 (I think it is) you hardly can’t go wrong. Yes there are some oddities and some of them annoy me so much I don’t fly the plane, but this really is a personal thing. Other people don’t seem to mind at all.

In the last dev stream Jorg said there is an update coming for the ATR. Both graphical and technical. I thought he said he expected it in September, but I’m not sure.

They are going to add the ATR 42-600S STOL, which might be enough to tempt me, if some of the other stuff gets fixed. It’ll even be able to get and out of Alderney. But then I also have the Trislander which I like a lot and it’s even more STOL.

A little annoyed to see all the bashing on the ATR and the PC-12.

The ATR is really cheap and despite a few bugs it really fills that regional turboprop spot. Plus we get to stare at something different than a WT Garmin display the whole time.

The PC-12 is very good with a weighty flight model and is lovely to hand-fly. Unlike the TBM it’s also widely used by small airlines across the world which makes the mission profile a lot more interesting.

It’s fine to have different opinions but I just want to tell people who don’t own the ATR and the PC-12 that they are indeed really good.

Which should of course be qualified with, ā€˜in my opinion’

My one and only true remorse was the £50-£60 I spent on the Reno expansion, truly burnt on that one.
Lots of planes lacking basic features, no openable cockpits etc more inop switches than working ones.
I knew there would be a trade off in features just but in my opinion this was taking it too far.
One of the few I bought on release day, Hawk and Vulcan being the others.
