I want to buy Flight Simulator 2020 PREMIUM from XBOX Game Pass (I don’t have subscription yet). I have couple of questions and I just want to be sure if I don’t violate any rules…
when I will cancel subscription (after purchase) then will I still be able to play, right?
what if I will have to reinstal system or format SSD in the future - will I be able to install the game again if I don’t have the installation files? - I suppose that I have to log in to MS Store on the same account as I was on Game Pass and then download the game again, right?
will I be able to do constant updates of FS2020 AFTER cancel of subscription?
Apparently not - See 3rd post below…and all I got to say is…wow…
You will have to login with your MS account and re-download all the files. They’re constantly changing with each update, so not having the main install files isn’t an issue.
I’ve read of some who have been able to clone their old hard drive when upgrading their secondary drive (not OS drive) to an SSD, but I’d read up on that before assuming it can be done successfully.
Yes
Updates are mandatory and automatic. There’s no way not to update.
Buy via Steam. Much slicker buying and updating system. I had multiple issues through game pass which constantly need updates in itself. Search the net for this common issue.
When you play MSFS on game pass and you buy the “Deluxe Premium Upgrade” at the in-game Marketplace, it’s how I described.
But if you buy the Premium Deluxe game in the store with a discount (because you’re on Xbox game pass) you can indeed keep playing the game after you cancel your subscription.
An active “Xbox Game Pass” subscription gives you access to the Standard version of the simulator. This is only the case while your subscription is active. Once you cancel your subscription, you will still have access to the simulator until your billing period ends.
Any items purchased through the in-store market place are yours, but without owning the base sim you cannot launch the simulator and therefore access your content. Of cause, you get access to everything when you next renew Game Pass or buy the simulator.
However, if your goal is to get a premium version of the simulator, I suggest you buy it outright.
Microsoft offers a bundle discount when purchasing the base sim + an addon through the Steam or Windows Store. This bundled discount is unavailable if you buy the base sim, and then try to buy the higher version at a later time (which you would have to do through the in-sim market place).
If you plan to buy the sim through the Windows Store, you can cheat game pass to get a further discount. Game pass users are offered a discount when buying the simulator through the Windows Store, so get Game Pass for a single month and do not buy the premium or premium deluxe upgrades from the market place. Before your one month of Game Pass expires, go to the Windows Store and buy the version you want.
*Please note that Xbox Play Anyware is not available to purchases through Steam
** I cannot check to see if Game Pass users still get a discount when buying the sim through the Windows Store, but I believe this is still the case
That’s why I mentioned at the beginning that I would like to BUY the top Premium Deluxe version right away, but I saw in the MS Store that there is a discount for Game Pass subscribers. Therefore, I am asking if it is possible to subscribe for 1 month, immediately buy FS Premium and cancel GP subscription.
I’m not interested in the upgrades - the full version only.
… and whether AFTER game pass subscription cancellation:
a. can I reinstall FS Premium in case of the system or disk failure?
b. will the simulator be constantly updated?
After the statements of Pieter1982NL and Nyx1819 from two previous posts, I think that “yes” - am I right?
If you buy a month of game pass that will give you a one-month licence for MSFS (Standard Edition).
During that time, you can buy a permanent licence from the Windows Store at a discounted rate, this licence will persist after your game pass subscription expires. This means that you can:
Install/use the simulator after your Game Pass licence expires
Install the simulator on multiple PCs at any time, so long as you are logged in with your Microsoft Account
The simulator is updated once a month, and you will continue to receive these updates.
My experience, in September I signed up for Xbox Pass, obviously Standard ed. There is no other, active subscription until the end of January this year that I buy the Premium Edition through the Xbox purchase options, you have to be very sure that clearly indicates that you are buying the package that includes the “simulator” once downloaded and verified that it works, I unsubscribed from the Pass subscription and until now, what you cannot do is uninstall Xbox, otherwise the game will not runs. If you do, the solution is to reinstall the Xbox App.
If you have to move the game from Disk, go from F: to E: for example, it can be done very easily through Settings, Applications, find the program, press and you will get “Move” press and that’s it, that’s easy.
I have the feeling that your points of view are divided …I mean Nyx clarified everything but Matrix still has different point of view
Ok, thanks for all replies.
I think that I will consider buy it in normal way, or Steam maybe…
What I want to clarify from my post, is the following, I think that the term license purchase can cause confusion, that is why I mean buying the standard package, which is where this game is and then all the premium packages, as I said. I made it through the Microsoft store and I am a digital game owner. The other point is Xboss I just unsubscribed from the periodic payments, but do not cancel the subscription, I imagine that xbox will. I followed the recommendations of the Xbox Support Service.
