ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
The scale in the altimeter of the classic C172 and the scale in the standby altimeter of the G1000 C172 reads backwards. (And the scale is in hPa and not in inHg).
Rotating the altimeter knob (clockwise) increases the indicated altitude as it should, but decreases the pressure displayed in the Kollsman window, and vice-versa.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
C172 both variants (Classic and G1000)

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Set the weather to standard atmosphere (1013hPa) and read the scale in the altimeter. It shows 1002hPa and not 1013hPa.
  2. Set the altimeter in the G1000 and read the scale in the standby altimeter. It shows not the same. (standby altimeter shows a wrong hPa)

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

Just noticed this. It’s the same with me

Also noticed this today.
ATC gave me a QNH of 1017. When I googled it, 1017 hPA should match 30.03 inHG. But when I tried to adjust the altimeter in the C172 to get a QNH of 1017 I noticed that the inHG dropped lower not higher, and I almost stalled the aircraft!

Please fix the gauge!

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

An internal bug report has been made for the backwards altimeter scale in the C172.

The reference to it being displayed in hPA instead of inHg is by design as the reference model was an european C172 which is equipped with a hPa altimeter

This was not the case with the model in 2020. Can it be made switchable for those of us that fly in the US? ATC provides baro in inHG, not hPA.

Still not fixed in release of SU2. Cannot select inHg for the altimeter guage.
