I believe this DIM BUS is for ROLL (R) and PITCH (R) ANNUNCIATORs on the face of the autopilot, above AP button, or for other annunciators/ I can not confirm this, but something of this kind is in my memory.
AH … so you are thinking that the dimming is of the Red LED Digits & Text on the Screen, as opposed to the Buttons.
That is not the way the ADF & Transponder seem to be working, both of which have similar screens.
Maybe some further research is needed before condemning Asobo of incorrect simulation …
Don’t think so. Please read page 2-7 of the install manual under the section titled ‘Switch backlighting adjustment.
This one got my attention.
Googling cessna 172 night flying and having a look through the images has not been definitive.
However, I did come across a couple of videos.
In this one, that bottom unit appears to be a 5 button AP(not sure what to really call it), based on the grouping of the buttons, 1, then a gap, then 4
This one, at around the 2:40 mark, you can see them turn on. Again, the button configuration seems to look like a 140.
All that aside, I went poking around and it is possible to mod and enable them. Here I’ve enabled 2 of the buttons.
It is however a bit intrusive ATM, and will probably not work on another plane that has a 140 and uses the Asobo code, as the dimming potentiometer will probably not be the same. If I’m not mistaken, the 172 is the only default plane with a 140??
Let me know if anyone’s interested in this and I’ll see if I can’t make a 172 specific mod.
Defiantly Interested … would really make my day, especially as I have spent some time looking, and myself, cannot figure out how to mod it !!
Is it the actual KAp140 that needs modding, or the plane to allow it to control the Kap140 button lighting ?
Wondering why you only got two buttons working.
Hopefully you will share with us
But of course, a lot of other Planes use the KAP140, both with MS-Store DRM and without (if that makes a difference)
I’m currently messing around with it, I’ll send you a file here momentarily. I’m struggling to find a way to add it solely to the 172, as to do so easily would require access to it’s interior.xml file which is locked away.
So it’s an edit to \OneStore\fs-base-aircraft-common\ModelBehaviorDefs\Asobo\NAVCOM\KAP140.xml
The only other default plane I can find with a KAP140 are a couple of the new PC6’s, and funny enough its lit up in those.
That is indeed good news !! the Milviz Porter ? Firing it up now !!
KAP140.xml.pln (18.8 KB)
Well here’s the file. I’m giving up for now trying to add something into the 172 itself. I was trying to figure out how the 787 Heavy mod is able to work as it’s also encrypted, but I don’t get it lol
The edits are these lines, repeated on each button.
<UseTemplate Name="ASOBO_GT_Emissive_Gauge">
<EMISSIVE_CODE>(A:LIGHT POTENTIOMETER:7, Percent) 600 /</EMISSIVE_CODE>
</UseTemplate>
The Milviz Porter is defiantly using the Asobo default KAP140, as I have mine with a MOD , and in the Porter, is displaying my Modded KAP140 – and yes … the Buttons are Lit !!!
Anyone notice the new twin otter also has this key light bug. Well at least it did have,they could of fixed before release I suppose.
I got back in the C152 tonight and had a blast with it (first time in VR).
I’ll have to upgrade the sim soon so I can try out the 172 classic.
I do think classic gauges are easier in VR. The resolution just isn’t so great to see all the info compressed on a screen.
Is the architecture of MSFS such that it maps out the electrical systems to the sim? It would make sense to design it that way.
I’m a bit bothered in the 172S I’m flying now that the comm systems work when the master switches are off. At least going by the breaker panel.
What do you mean by that?
Just tested and it works!
Thanks
I’ll have to check again. I remember getting ATC audio but I was being told the radio was off by the sim.
