ISSUE DESCRIPTION
When entering a cold and start Cessna 172, the fuel selector is in the left position. I understand this is expected given that setting it to either left or right is apparently part of the shut-down procedure.
The start-up procedure should involve setting it to ‘both’ but this isn’t included in auto-start.
Anyone not aware of this will start the aircraft and fly with fuel only being used from the left tank. Given that the 172 is the default aircraft for the career missions, this is likely to be a lot of people.
I’m not 100% sure on this, but think the cold and dark position of the fuel selector may have been changed from both to left at some point based on user feedback. The auto-start not being updated accordingly would explain the current situation.
