Hi all!
I’ve seen numerous visual updates for the default C172, but has anyone seen or heard of a (I hate to call it this) “Study level” 172? I like the Asobo one quite a bit but was looking for anything that might top it if possible. I completed my PPL in 2 different models, a steam gauge and finished up in a 172SP. What dou you all think?
Try the WBSim C172 mod available from JustFlight. It fits the bill for me.
WBSim has you covered:
Read the description, pretty much „study level“.
Yup! Got that one already! its great!
Well, your only other bet would be if A2A brings its 172 Trainer to MSFS. But if they do, it will be a loooong wait.
Still hoping for A2A? I really loved their 172 but it seems to me that they have high class customers that pay more than we can do.
They are bringing the aerocommander first. After that, we will see. For sure they are not the fastest, but they are known to make things right and not do compromises.
The Wb-Sim C172 enhancement Mod , is (IMHO) , the best mod to make the Asobo C172SP ( Classic Six Pack) closer to real world realism - for those with a PC. *
I learnt to fly in a c172 some 30 years ago, and have been flying them on and off ever since.
I learnt more details of the Plane’s operation and systems from the WB-SIM simulation, than I did in 30 years of flying the real thing – in fact, looking back now, its quite scary what I did not know, that is not normally taught to get a PPL, that you really would benefit for knowing earlier on in your flying life.
Talk to your CFI – discuss your use of MSFS with them , and listen to what they have to say … (as opposed to any comments from random “players” in a forum, or elsewhere on the Internet)
- X-Box users – your turn is coming real soon !!
Note: It’s NOT April 1st as I post this
No that’s not the case anymore. Scott Gentile (A2A CEO) told us in the forum that they had cancelled or completed (or similar) their Airforce contracts and that flightsim for consumer grade sims was their primary business once again. They are full steam ahead betatesting their Comanche and after that it might be the Aerostar or another SEP, but their Accusim engine and how it’s done would then enable them to produce new aircraft much faster than before.
WBSim C172 is the way to go. I’ve combined it with Boris Audio Works sound set and it’s an absolute joy to fly. As close as you can get to study level. It supports both PMS 530 (default) and WT 530, though for the latter you’ll have to download a small patch from their Discord server.
100% this. The combination is absolutely fantastic. The only thing missing is that it uses Asobo’s external model, so you can’t open doors, windows, etc. Small price to pay, but it’s about the only thing missing.
I’ve been flying it on-stream in my VFR planning mini-series for the past few months, and it absolutely slays the POH numbers and “feels” and sounds right to my experience in 172s. Must-have.
