C172 (Ski) interior spot light

Hey, I just caught it in action! This is in the C172 Classic.

For whatever reason, when I loaded into it the flashlight wasn’t automatically on. I toggled on the flashlight and then a beat later you see the mystery spotlight turn on. I turn off the flashlight and you see the spotlight remains lit. Looking around, I don’t see the source:

Is that with a specific livery maybe ?, I cannot reproduce with the official one (classic/ski).

That is in the C172 Basic > Official 01 livery.

I have nothing in the Community folder and nothing but Base, Deluxe and Premium default content.

I’m running a vanilla Premium Deluxe install.

Thank you. I just tried with the C172 Basic > Official 01 livery and cannot reproduce. Weird issue…
I am on ms-store, Premium Deluxe, custom key bind profile based on FS2020 transversal

Yeah in the video. It initially didn’t illuminate until I turned on the flashlight. Whether that was the trigger or it was a coincidence I’m unsure.

I’ll try to replicate it.

I have the same thing.

Okay. Different night. I loaded into this aircraft at KSBP and the mystery light didn’t come on – just as you’ve reported.

Then I went back to the World Map, and reloaded into KPRB and it did exactly what I show in the YouTube clip – after a moment the spotlight turns on.

Look how much light it is casting outside the aircraft in this screenshot. It’s hitting the backside of the prop and engine cover warning flags:

2020’s keyboard “L” all lights on/off function has no effect on this mystery spotlight.

The light stays with the aircraft when you start taxiing, so it is somehow a part of the aircraft.

This is so weird.

I was finally able to reproduce it following your steps (even if I am not sure it is related to reload the flight at another airport). Then I tried to reproduce it again 4 time but unsuccessful. I don’t know how to constantly reproduce or what triggers it.

I don’t think it is related to this, either. I’m still struggling to make sense of it, too.

I have a hunch that once it starts, it’s present in all subsequent aircraft loads, but I haven’t taken the time to prove this.

I cannot understand what it could even be. Wouldn’t every aircraft that suffers from it have to have a rogue light as a part of the model’s code? How could that have happened and what, exactly, triggers it to turn on??

It’s as though the modeler building the aircraft setup a light during modeling to, I don’t know, see how their textures look when directly lit and they forgot to remove the light. What is difficult to acertain is what turns it on.

I flew the 172 basic last night and did not see the light this time. I used one of the flight seeing liveries but can’t recall which one.

I’ll keep an eye out for it and see if it’s related to turning on the flashlight.

It was dark during my last flight, but both airports had sufficient lighting that I didn’t need to use the flashlight

just happened to me on my round the world trip in the corvallis. the only way i could get rid of it was to spawn during day and then change time to night. if it loaded cold dark it would be there. might be related to headlamp, as it would be on when cold dark for me. once on, the curse is unbreakable…

I have solved the problem for me anyway. I have a honeycomb yoke and have left the assignments to default. I found out that if you have the taxi and or landing switches in the up position but use the mouse to move them in the cockpit the light appears and will go away if you put the yoke switchs in the down postion. So its a bug. I say bug and reproducable.
