C208 unstable flight regardless of AP or YD state

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Other users have complained and reported the “Wobble” in the C208 while on auto pilot. The plane isn’t stable with or without AP. YD also has no effect. Flying by hand results in the same behavior that others have reported but it isn’t just an AP problem, though it does accentuate it as the autopilot reacts too slowly to the plane

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Cessna 208 Caravan

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Same issue with or without mods

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time there is wind at all

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1.cruise altitude and power
2.any varying winds (any direction, any speed above 2-3 KT)
3.try and hold a straight line. (don’t try this in VR unless you enjoy motion sickness)

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:
Honeycomb Alpha, Bravo.
Logitech Rudder Pedals

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
no

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?
3070 ti

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?
5800X3D

I can confirm this. The plane is struggling to keep a stable and smooth flight path

I just found, by hold some good right rudder in, like 30%, I can stabilize the aircraft to redurce the wiggle

Interesting. Does this happen to you in free flight? I only play free flight and this doesn’t happen.

As far as I am aware that is Asobo’s interpretation of how turbulence should be presented. If you use something like ActiveSky that disappears in favour of a more up & down motion. I’m not convinced its the plane itself, but some planes may be more susceptible than others.

I’ve described it as the plane shaking its head.

I have the same and I don’t think that’s related to turbulence (which I agree is way exaggerated in the sim, but is more abrupt).
What I have is more of a gentle side to side constant wobble. YD doesn’t seem to cure it.

All I know is that if I use ActiveSky for wind, turbulence etc. I never see that side to side head shaking, in any plane.

While I appreciate the information about Active Sky, and am interested in the product, I shouldn’t need that just to have the sim work. :man_shrugging:

Did my first Career flight in the 208 today and this happend 2+hrs into the flight while getting close over mountians and eased off( but never completely stopped) as i gained more ground clearance. so i suspect it is also a turbulence issue and the 208 is for some reason extremely susceptible. With 40+ hrs in the 172 and Cirrus jet theyve never actes like this over aimilar terrain

I know what you mean. One nice feature of AS is you can customise the turbulence. I left mine in the middle but you can adjust it to your liking.

This will make flying planes like the C208, that may be more susceptible to rotational turbulence, a more pleasant experience.

@TEAMFASTLANE : does your issue the same than the one reported here ?:
Cessna Caravan YAW damper ineffective

Left aileron unevenly deflected. this is causing a lot of confusion and issues. PLEASE FIX THE 208!!! its been 12 weeks of this.

I agree, this thing is a steaming pile, the turbulence also occurs in the 172 in some circumstances, if it were ALL the time we could blame the plane but it isn’t. Sigh… I managed to pass the turboprop certification and now i NEVER want to touch the 208 again :frowning: It’s too bad because if someone that knew what they were doing took some time with it I suspect it could be a nice aircraft to fly…

More like a dog switching it’s tail… or maybe a tart wiggling her behind?? In any case, it’s not like any real world turbulence I’ve ever experienced.
