Caledonian Canal "Monsters & Wizards"

Take a flight with us over Scotland’s Caledonian Canal, Loch Shiel, and witness the stunning beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
On your journey, you may spot the legendary monster “Nessy” in the depths of Loch Ness, and if you’re a Harry Potter fan, look out for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, said to be hidden in the hills. Fly over the canal, observing the locks connecting the lochs, allowing boats to navigate the Great Glen. Admire the towering mountain ranges, lush forests, and charming villages along the banks of Loch Shiel. Soak in the breathtaking views of the deep blue waters and rolling hills of the loch. It’s a magical and memorable experience, not to be missed by adventure seekers and fans of Scotland and fantasy.

The Caledonian Canal is a historic waterway in Scotland, spanning 60 miles through the Great Glen from Inverness to Corpach near Fort William. Built in the early 19th century, the canal was designed to provide a navigable route across Scotland, connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the North Sea, bypassing the dangerous and often stormy waters around the north coast. The canal was constructed using a series of locks, aqueducts and man-made canals to connect several lochs, including Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy. It was officially opened in 1822 and played a crucial role in the transportation of goods and people throughout Scotland for over a century. Today, the Caledonian Canal is a popular tourist destination, attracting boaters, hikers, and nature lovers from all over the world. Its stunning
scenery and rich history make it a must-see for anyone visiting Scotland.

Flight Plan Information

Follow the magenta line or just follow the pack. We will stop at every airport on the flight plan.
Cruise speed will at about 100kts and there are some modest climbs on the way. Some airfields only have a short
grass runway, so train your shortfield landings. If you don’t make it to the ground, just stay airborne and wait
for the rest to come back up. This is a fun flight and open to everyone.
Plan about 2 1/2 hours for this flight. We will make a 10 minute break at a airport half way through the flight.
