Camera.cfg file for Marketplace Aircraft

I use the top hat button on my yoke to “quick look” left and right and quickly switch to other views that are defined in the Quickview section of the camera.cfg file for each aircraft.

I’ve often edited that file to fine tune the angle of the quickviews to get the exact view I want to see.

There isn’t a visible camera.cfg for planes purchased in the MSFS2024 marketplace (at least that I can find).

Is there a way to edit these views for these planes (the main one I’m looking into right now is the 1950s Carenado 172)? Would I need to create a custom mod to do this?

In MSFS2020 you could edit the camera Quickview positions in the cameras.cfg file but I have not found any way to do this for standard (encrypted) sim aircraft in 2024. I am curious to see if anybody has an answer for this.

Yes, you have to create a mod for this to work. I do this for all airplanes I fly regularly.

To find the original ‘cameras.cfg’ files for the airplane you need to use the ‘Dev Mode’ and activate the virtual file system. In the simobjects folder are all airplanes.

The cameras.cfg file usually is not encrypted, make a copy, edit the file and create a proper mod with identical folder structure to place into the ‘Community’ folder.

This seems straight forward, but I haven’t had any luck in creating a mod for this.

I found the camera.cfg file in the virtual file system and created a mod, but it not working.

I can see my mod in dev mode, but it says it’s invalid. It seems like I must not have the right file structure or path in the json file.

Anyone have any advice?

Hi there, the VR Zoom for Skysim DC-9 zooms in too much. It looks into the nose cone. I have tried increasing the InitialZoom value in airplanes/camera.cfg to 100 (I read higher number means less zoom) but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Anybody know what I’m doing wrong or how to zoom in less?
