Camera "Hot Keys"

I’ve spent hours and hours experimenting with the camera controls. I’ve watched lots of videos and read lots of articles. I’ve experimented ad-nauseum. I have a searchable Word document of the keyboard commands that I’ve highlighted. I have a downloaded and converted to Word (and printed) version of this information: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016003159-Camera-Overview
I purchased and studied this guide: A Guide to Flight Simulator: Extended Edition for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Yet I have been unable to find Control Options to do this: from no matter what view you are in…

  1. Go directly to the default/home screen of the cockpit.
  2. Go directly to the default/home screen of the drone view.
  3. Go directly to the default/home screen of the external view.
Alternately it could go to the last sub-view of the selected main view.

I am programing a gamepad to do all the viewing with. It would be terrific to be able to jump to any of these 3 views directly and consistently, no matter where you came from.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. :slightly_smiling_face:

P.S. Is there any way to get an on-screen indication of which of the 3 (4 if you count showcase) camera modes you are in? Switching around in the camera modes can get extremely confusing at times, and knowing where you are at would be extremely helpful. This could be something like POI indicators.

Thanks, but I already have those. There appears to be no way to jump from any view directly to the “home screen” of one of the camera modes.

Hi,

Toggle Drone Camera = Insert
Toggle External Camera = End
Toggle Cockpit View = F12 ( I had to bind this in the Options/Keyboard menu)

All of these toggle between the LAST view that was used in each camera/view. If the view in the cockpit is changed to an instrument view, and you toggle the Drone camera, when you toggle back to the cockpit, it will show the instrument view you were on. If you want to “reset”, say, the Drone camera, you would press numeric keyboard 5 key when in Drone mode, the F key when in cockpit view, etc.

That’s the extent of my knowledge . Maybe someone has figured out how to set up a key binding which could combine, say, the Insert Key with the numeric 5 key to automatically set the Drone “home” view.

Thanks Bill! Even after studying the keyboard reference I didn’t know there was an independent “Toggle Cockpit View” option. I will bind it to a button on my ancient Logitech Wingman Action where I have Insert and End bound, and use for camera control.

Like you say [Insert followed by 5] would be great, but I find no way to create macros in MSFS2020.6.

It’s also frustrating that the camera controls for each of the three camera modes are different from each other in each mode (very confusing and cumbersome). It would be so much easier if “look here” was the same in each mode (as much as practical). For example, center the camera is 5 in one mode, and F in another mode. But I digress…
