Camera panel Drone focus mode setting is not working

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

The “Drone focus mode” on the “Showcase” tab of the camera panel (aka drone cam) does not act like advertised by its available settings besides “Disabled”.

  • “Auto” does nothing in comparison to "Disabled.
  • “Manual” does what “Auto” should do with the amount of blur being set by “Drone focus” (so it keeps in focus what’s within the screens center only). You cannot keep something in focus wich is off-center this way and as such draws the manual setting useless.

Also the displayed setting always reverts to “Disabled” whenever the camera panel was closed and reopened.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?

No/not tested.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

No (nothing installed what alters camera settings)

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Always

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Open the camera panel, select “Drone focus mode” = Auto. Set “Drone focus” and “Zoom level” to something high. Expectation: Moving the aircraft into the screens center will blur the surroundings, moving it off-center the aircraft will be blurred.
  2. Select “Drone focus mode” = Manual. Keep the other settings as is. Expectation: Moving the camera will keep the focus constant, so either the aircraft or the surroundings will be blurred depending on the settings. The focus will not switch if something is moved into the screens center.
  3. Close the camera panel and reopen it. The last setting (in this case “Manual”) should still be set.

Not something that happens. It just doesn’t work at all.

I think that drone camera auto-focus might be working now. Could somebody kindly check?
The camera window is not saving the drone focus mode when you close it, however.

Just checked, not working here SU2 PC, voted.

It still doesn’t work.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes.
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• No change of focus point with any drone camera setting. No background blur or bokeh.
• SU2 1.4.20.0

Still not working in SU3 Beta

Still not working SU3

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• It’s even worse, if you try to use key bindings instead of the Camera Panel to change to Showcase / Drone view, and then to one of the 10 Fixed Camera views inside the Drone mode, you get the following behaviour:

  • Start in the default Cockpit view
  • Press your key binding to change to Showcase view
  • Press your unique key binding to change to 1 of the 10 Fixed Camera views within Showcase mode, eg the 3rd view. (You would have to create your own unique key bind for this, as it is not in the Presets).
  • Press the key binding to return to Cockpit view
  • The Cockpit view will have changed to “Instrument View” 3, even though you set and used a completely different key binding to change views in Showcase mode
  • When you then try to “Reset” the view in the Cockpit, instead it takes you BACK to Showcase view…
  • The functionality and logic is broken
  • I created a bug report which was never acknowledged here: Changing Showcase Drone Fixed Camera view by key binding, also activates a change in Cockpit view when it shouldn't
