Camera setting- home cockpit mode

Q for the 2024 users-

Have they finally fixed the home cockpit camera mode which did nothing useful throughout 2020? eg full screen view no VC rendered

Does 2024 bring anything to the table for folks with home cockpits

thanks

I’d love to know the answer to this one as well!

And i will be quiet for a long time for it does the same as in 2020
Which is preventing that it will not accidently move the view with the mouse clicking

ok thanks, so there is nothing natively available from microsoft to address this for those with home cockpits- what a disappointment it has been for me and many peers. MSFS has under achieved and in my opinion xbox has dragged the sim towards the current direction of travel, which I understand. Still an amazing piece of software, but I have no choice but to follow the P3d path… and the thought of that makes me want to cut my loss and leave the hobby!

This home cockpit setting can be usefull for it is not impossible as it locks the cockpit in one place for example setup the cockpit to youre like in the aircraft you fly and set zoom and translate, than lock it with this mode and with ir headtracking you can still look around in any direction, so i set it to the edge where still i can see the nose in the bottom of the screen ,
If clicking the wrong mouse button than it would be still no harm done.
Maybe it doesnt make sense, but i think it is useable in some scenario.

yes thanks I understand and agree the lock function is a limited benefit, but its always a compromise here. I have a full hardware cockpit, so any view locked from within the virtual cockpit doesn’t look great because the model parts are seen. I dont see whats difficult for Asobo to give us back the full view minus cockpit other than it not being part of the xbox roadmap !

I suspect there’s something in the aircraft core design that prevents them from separating the cockpit visuals from the flight model. If it was a simple code change, I think they would have already added the option. Super frustrating, as I was hoping 2024 would have addressed this with the re-code restructuring they said was happening. Let’s hope they are working on something in the background…

The plane cockpits are probably rendered from multiple meshes, maybe combined into one mesh.
In other words there was never any thought about disabling part of the cockpit when the planes were developed, and now it requires a complete rebuild of the cockpit and lighting for every plane which will probably never happen.

When the FSX 2D panels were dropped, that was a massive blow to home cockpits. However modern hardware like WinWing is excellent, so a hybrid approach makes sense. Nudge the camera above the glareshield and use the hardware below.
