Can an Oculus 2 be used in VR while also seeing a Mono Picture on a separate screen

I want to be able to show others the joy of flying in VR using the Oculus 2 headset while I have control with a mono view on screen. It is difficult to control the aircraft with the stereo view that the headset that is seeing as the user obviously want to have a good luck around. Often just as I am lining up for landing. I have to say “please keep looking straight ahead”. I note from input of other users it appears not possible to use 2 headsets at once although the Oculus app offers the possibility to add another headset. Any help appreciated.

I’m not at my computer at the moment, but have you tried using the (Oculus Mirror) app? It may allow you to override and force it to display only one of the eyes, left or right, on screen. I think it may also be able to enable image stabilisation and adjust FOV etc.

Unfortunately, I’m not aware of a way that exists yet to do what you describe (Ive also thought about it myself as it would be great to show family and friends whilst they’re fully immersed in VR and not having to keep looking out the front window).

I wonder if AI MSFS autopilot mode can be trusted enough to land and takeoff, or whether one of the recording apps (e.g. sky dolly) has the capacity to help in this situation?

I think the built in MSFS record app may actually record camera movements so it probably won’t be helpful, unfortunately. It will simply replay what you recorded, which in VR mode, might make someone sick. I haven’t tried it yet though so I can’t say for sure. Sky dolly is more advanced but still no guarantee. It’s on my list of things to try.

Cheers,

(46) How to set up OBS for VR recording and streaming - YouTube

Watching from 1.40 in this video, and using Steam VR you can view as required, if I understand your request correctly. I would probably use “both eyes” views with either a left or right dominant bias. You dont have to do the streaming or recording bit, its just displaying on screan what you see as the pilot.

The auto pilot can land the aircraft ok (it can be hit miss occaisionally), if you wanted to be looking around when landing but with the above method the viewers will see your pilots eye view, rather than them being immersed in the VR view.

If you use the oculus android app not sure if it’s available for iOS. Your able to view what your seeing in the quest and also record it and their is another option to cast what your seeing to a device i.e a tv
