I am getting this randomly at some locations, it even persists on the world map (until I go to a different location or load a different aircraft)…
somehow you enabled viewing of Thermals, I think. and sorry no idea how to enable or disable but maybe you can search thermal in the settings. or maybe someone else knows. im only guessing its thermals because of a video I’ve seen before from the devs showing it off
I personally dont get the point of it
You enabled thermals I think its in the bottom left of the weather menu - but that the least of worries at this point - going to be a very long wait before this sim is usable

Ahh, you nailed it! I never enabled or even saw it in MSFS 2020 that’s why I didn’t think of this… I just checked the keyboard controller mappings, and the ‘3D Themal Display toggle’ is actually mapped by default to ALT-6, which I mapped myself to custom cockpit view 6 
Looks like MSFS 2024 doesn’t warn you when you try to use an existing mapping, like MSFS 2020…

See if maybe you binded a key or button to thermals and turn it off and unbind.

Yep that was it 
It does warn you, look for the circled number next to the binding, that shows the number of conflicts on that binding, click the gear icon to see the actual conflicts.
It is Aerodynamic Visuallization. Turned off that feature
