I’m not sure where they hid the requirements for the sim to run and Im not sure if latency was mentioned at all but I am wondering if there is a minimum latency for the game to run and if being higher than that minimum could be the cause of “Internet Unstable” messages followed by the screen that says the game can’t connect to ‘the network’ – whether it means my home network or the X Box network I don’t know.
I tested my network using X Box and my download speeds, upload speeds both looked good but my latency was 71ms the first time I tested and then 112ms and 115ms on the two subsequent tests. I just don’t know if this could cause a CTD or the ‘Unstable Internet’ message.
OK, so – brief research says my answer is No, latency shouldn’t cause CTD or the Unstable Internet message.
I was reading here:
Network settings on the Xbox console | Xbox Support
But that doesn’t mean the game has other ideas or that my understanding is correct so if you know, please comment.
Both 1.3.19.0 and 1.3.22.0 have given me a new message that simply says something to the effect of 'Internet is Unstable" and then shortly after it goes to a screen that says the game requires an internet connection and everything will be paused until I get a connection back. The problem is that I don’t seem to be losing a connection at all but the sim thinks I do. Today I immediately shut down the sim upon seeing the screen about lost connection and I tested it and it was fine. Oddly, at first, it mentioned something about a game had taken control of the network and wouldnt even let me test it – and this was with the game claiming it had no connection at all. It was as if the game kept trying to open new connection channels and when it found it couldn’t open any more, it decided it had none .
I will try a direct ethernet connection and see if it continues.
BTW - signal strength is always 100% and MTU always 1480 (I believe) and packet loss is 0 or sometimes 1%. Download speed is around 80Mbps and upload varies between 4 and 18MBps. latency is usually 60ms or so but today it was higher.
Note that on both flights that this happened, it took at least two hours before it did.
