Can I choose WMR instead of SteamVR?

I was VRBeta tester, all works with acceptable FPS. After the update at dec22 the FS starts steamVR and my frame rates drops about 5-10 fps. Any idea how to aviod steamVR?
core i9-9900k, RTX 2080, HP Reverb G1.

I use steamVR myself, and the trick to smooth performance is to opt-in to the 1.14 beta version (listed as Linux_1.14.xxxx in the beta list) and Nvidia driver 452.06. The latest version of steamVR or newer Nvidia drivers causes a terrible stutter fest.

Install the openxr dev tool from the windows store.

When you start it, it will tell you that the runtime is not set to the wmr runtime and you can press the ‘set active runtime’-button.
