Can I reset Clouds to default?

My clouds are horrendous. I have a smoking hot system.
4090
13900
48GB RAM
etc and get great frame rates however my clouds at ULTRA look like squares. Is there a way to maybe reset them to see if something is messed up in my sim? Thanks.

Any chance of a screenshot, preferably with the devmode fps counter showing? I’ll just mention that with your set up all texture and aliasing settings should be maxed to the hilt both in sim and NVCP

Clouds just look bad these days sadly. I am normally a die hard for realism, but even I am thinking of going to some presets like floyds epic clouds or something.

Have you tried reducing the cloud settings, maybe to high? Personally I think high looks better than ultra, but my system isn’t as powerful as yours so that could be an issue.

I would try deleting the user cfg and letting it rebuild. Might not do anything, but I have had a few anomalies in the past and this has fixed them.

It’s also relatively painless to reinstall the sim.

You can make a back up of the official and community folder (if you don’t use addon linker for the community).

Uninstall the sim.

Put the official folder back where it was, or create a new folder where you want to have the official stuff and put the official there.

Then on reinstall just direct it to the official folder.

It will then just be a few GB install, but all the kinda ‘workings’ will be freshly and cleanly installed.

Of course if you want to do this, don’t blame me if it messes up somehow haha! But happy to provide further instructions should you want to try it and need a little help. (You may of course not need help doing this, so please don’t take it that I’m patronising you!!)

Good luck!

They shouldn’t look like squares. I run clouds on High and Ultra (mostly Ultra, but I bump them to high sometimes as I’m on an older card) and they look great. But I agree we need a screenshot to understand what OP is dealing with.
