Been using FSEconomy a little bit, but it’s… rough. Doesn’t look like they’re planning on making any improvements or modernize it.
So, looking for an alternative - I looked at NeoFly a bit, but can’t tell if doing the “ground-up” career building is required, or if there is a mode similar to FS Economy where we can pick from available planes, airports, etc. without having to “rank up”.
If NeoFly doesn’t do this, do any other alternatives?
Any help appreciated
You do need to rank up to get certain missions and fly qualification flights to enable different categories of airplanes in NeoFly. Ranking up the first few ranks isn’t too onerous until you try to get to Senior Captain which takes a long time.
Check out their online FAQ and guide, it’s pretty simple I think.

With the previous NF3 version you could freely edit the db and assign yourself the qualification you wanted without getting bored climbing the rankings to use your favourite aircraft. They are now developing the new NF4 version but have not yet decided whether the db will be encrypted or whether you will be able to edit it freely again. For now it is in early access and you cannot edit the db.
If the final version still doesn’t allow this unfortunately I won’t use it, I don’t want to waste time flying planes that don’t interest me.

Thanks for the note. I saw it was early access, but don’t know enough about it yet.
Yes, I’m afraid I have to agree with you on that. Which would be a complete shame. I adore NF3 (donated for all the perks available), but so far NF4 seems a few steps back in my opinion: locked DB, the map is now tiny, actually the whole program window is very small and not resizable.
I haven’t really been using it because as you say, I won’t waste time flying planes that don’t interest me. But every time I have started it up to check the progress I find the changes to be frustrating rather than an improvement.

Took a look at Skypark. This doesn’t appear to do what FS Economy does, namely, have a bunch of airports with passenger/cargo loads. That’s the main thing I’d like to do…
“Indulge your fantasies of traveling the world by air”
yeah, that’s not really what I want to do. 130 km passenger hops to Pittsburgh would be fine
“Less Planning, More Flying”
Actually, I want the planning. I use these exercises to reinforce real-world procedures where it’s reasonable.
I’m going to jump into the Discord server & see if I can figure out if I can basically replicate what I’d be doing in FSE.
