Can not enter MSFS if not suscribe Microsoft 365

Today I can not enter MSFS if I don´t suscribe Microsoft 365. Unannounced novelty when I bought MSFS in Microsoft Store on September 2020.

do you mean you have to pay for MS 365 in order to access and use MSFS?

Thats a low blow if true.Don’t know of anyone else with that problem!!

Def following this topic

That makes no sense… But I can’t say it’s untrue either. Since I’m subscribed to MS 365.

Me too. But all the same, the sim is an entirely separate purchase to Office 365, and shouldn’t be tied to it at all.

@cromsan Can you post an image of where it is telling you this? Ensure you censor emails/passwords etc.

When I try to start MSFS as normal all I get is this Microsoft Store instead now , is this the same fault ? any ideas ?

That’s a gaming Services, a different product.

What do you see in “Installed products”?

Thanks…no nothing was listed and it was stuck on update to the Store but eventually completed and then the list appeared as you have shown and I was able to start.

I can only say that, if I don´t had paid M365 today, I could have not enter to play MSFS 2020

Are you getting confused between Microsoft 365 and Xbox Game Pass by any chance?

I had the same thing the a few days ago. Sign out via the XBox Game Bar, restart your PC, then start the sim. You should be prompted to sign in and the sim should run. At least that’s how it went for me.

I see the same

I have encountered this in the past. I have found that it means the Gaming Services are not running, as the sim is assuming they are not installed, rather than just stopped.
Simply go to your Task Manager → Services Tab. Find Gaming Services and right click → Start.
This has solved my issue (which has only happened twice since the sim release) .

Hope this will help you!

According to what the most of you have say, I am going to unsuscribe Microsoft 365 to play MSFS2020.

This is yet another reason why a log.txt file would be SO helpful. If FlyingCookie’s suggestion is the answer, the entry in the file could have simply read “Gaming Services not started”. Even if the OP wasn’t sure what that was, someone else on the forum could have read the file and advised. BTW this has already been suggested, and I voted for it.

I’m not sure if the OP has that exact issue. So far, all I see is one person saying it cannot play the sim unless paying for office 365, and someone else bringing another issue in there, before the OP agrees with that issue and shares a screenshot.

Maybe @cromsan can give us more details on what the issue is, what cromsan tried, what error messages are visible and why the issue is associated to office 365.

Yes, there’s no connection between Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Flight Simulator. They are two entirely different products. Not sure what you’re referring to. Perhaps something is getting lost in translation?

I don’t have 365 and I’ve been playing the sim with no issues. You certainly do not need to buy M365 or Office to play Flight Sim.
