Can not run as admin anymore

Since the latest patch 1.16 i can not run the exe as admin anymore … whatever i try … no access

The previous updates i could always run as admin

Anyone else ?? An suggestion on how to fix and … is it needed at all ??

Same problem, no admin + Loading ok, then crash to the desktop.

Not sure what the consequences are …

I always thought it needed to run in admin and would prevent issues.
So i was starting it with Admin right since day 1 … now suddenly … issue

To Run as administrator or not to Run as administrator

I read a few guides on MSFS2020 (RDPresets, SoFly, numerous AVSIM posts, Reddit posts, etc.) and all suggest to Run as administrator. Don’t ask me why, they just pretty much all do. I was also always running FSX, P3D v2,3,4,5 as an administrator, this was always suggested, not doing so did result in many issues. In one of the guides, it’s also suggested to take ownership of the WindowsApps directory and set FlightSimulator.Exe to always run as an administrator. Yes, I’m talking about MS Store ve…

The point being… You shouldn’t have been running “As Administrator” in the first place. Or installing as such. It causes file ownership issues.

Indeed. I’m curious what the reasoning was behind running it as admin.

Back in the “old days” (Win 7 back to DOS), running as Admin helped actually get around file ownership issues. That is no longer true with the way OS’s are set up and software development works today. Now it’s all about sandboxes in order to keep bad actors away from important files.

There’s a reason this software only runs on Win10 and higher.
