Hey guys,
I´ve checked many forums, did a lot of research and whilst it fixed most of my problems, there is one that still remains. I want to fly on the Flybywire a320 and I calibrated everything like it should, but once I put full reverse thrust on the throttles the plane goes into idle. Once I lift the reverse thrust even just a tiny bit from the max position in the quadrant, the sim identifies it and goes back to reverse thrust. It seems that when I leave the throttle in reverse thrust max the sim glitches a bit and doesn’t really know what to do. It goes back and forth between full reverse thrust and idle and sometimes even flex for some reason. I checked everything and it can´t be the calibration since I´m sure the throttles are calibrated correctly. Do you guys have any ideas?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Have you checked to ensure there are no Piloing Assistance options on?
They do have a habit of changing themselves!
Thanks for the suggestion!
I checked and I do not have the piloting assistance on
Did you calibrate the throttles in the fly pad?
There are two positions in the reverse section, then idle
This is what my settings look like, all working fine.
Been a long time since I have calibrated this.
Reverse Full
Reverse Idle
Idle
Yes I have them calibrated! I´ll send some screenshots later
Here are mine:
This is in the a310 since i wanted to try and see if another plane maybe works but unfortunately no. Maybe it has something to do with the settings in MSFS?
As you can see in the first picture, when I use full reverse thrust the Sim identifies that the throttle is at 0 and i set it up so it makes it full reverse thrust, but in reality nothing is changing and it just stays in idle as you can see in picture 2.

Another thing that is weird is that once I put both throttles in idle it has different values but maybe its normal idk.
Just as a starting point do you see the same as me in your Windows Joystick App found in the Control Panel?
The first position shows Idle, second is full reverse, ( when the levers are fully back)
Enable virtual buttons is TICKED. and 12 & 16 buttons light up when full reverse is selected.
Yeah I get the same which is weird. Here´s the screenshots:
Full reverse:
Idle:
At least that has narrowed it down to the calibration in the Aircraft.
If I remember correctly I set the “Reverse idle” quite a distance from the “Idle” because if they overlap you could get the problems you are having.
I don’t think it’s too critical where the " Reverse Idle " is positioned in the grand scheme of things. I would try spacing them out as in the diagram below.
On the FBW
You have to remember to position the levers, then highlight the corresponding position at 3 on the photo and apply. Then move on to the next position and repeat.
P.S.
Just tried the A310 for the first time in the Sim, and all the throttle movements are working spot on, the animation inside the cockpit works, and the animation of the reverse engine looks full reverse.
Your photo of the “full reverse” looks the same as mine and the engines are roaring.
Sorry for such a late response, I got really busy these last weeks but now I finally have time again!
So I checked it like you said and the reverse idle and reverse full are not overlapping. Here are the photos:
Reverse Idle:
Reverse Full:
What is weird is that you can see that the plane identifies that I should have reverse thrust but still, it automatically just goes to idle.
What is also weird is that when I’m in idle the sim thinks both throttles are in a slightly different position:
At first, I thought it might not be well calibrated but looking at the controls in Windows everything looks fine:
Maybe I should just try to reinstall MSFS?
I’m on Xbox X, FS 2024, using the airbus tac captain pack, with A320neo as well. My reverse thrust used to work after I did the calibration procedure using the iPad-like gizmo to the left in the cockpit. But for some reason it stopped working a couple of days ago. I found solutions here for PC users by editing some file to set a variable called something like use-reverse-thrust from false to true. But can’t do that on Xbox.
But I just stumbled on a solution for my situation!
On the in cockpit gizmo I went to Options, Open Throttle Settings, and at the top is REVERSE ON AXIS. It has always been set to YES and still was. But I clicked it to NO. The calibration buttons now did not include the IDLE REV and MAX REV buttons and asked me to recalibrate. Instead I just set REVERSE ON AXIS back to YES. It asked to me recalibrate again which I did. Now it all works again!!
Apparently something got corrupted but is now back as it should have been all along?
Good luck to you.
I just checked the latest update to FS 2020 1.38.2.0 that includes an update to IniBuilds A320neo (v2). It also made the reverse throttle that used to work stop working just like what happened on FS 2024 a few days ago. The EFB shows REVERSE ON AXIS set to Yes but the throttles in the plane now behave as if set to No. Briefly set it to No, then back to Yes , check the calibration and everything goes back to working as it did before the update.
