simple answer, Age of Data. to which i explained that in one of my posts.
the older data does not have the resolution or the definition of todays standards.
Blackshark and Azure are forced to use whatever the Bing Data has. it cannot upsample that.
plus you have to factor in limitations of hardware to quality performance ratios, a few other things to take into consideration, network issues, OS Operations in the background, if the RCC is in play, disk speed and data overhead.
People are getting way too wrapped up in micro-details that would kill performance if they were put in MSFS. Itâs a flight simulator and even VFR rules donât generally allow flying 100 ft above houses to sightsee.
Micro-details and performance can be pulled off with properly managed LODs and GPU optimizations. Other games have done it.
Itâs fine if youâre at 2000 feet agl. But land anywhere off field with the cubs. Fly low with a rotorcraft. Water taxi with the A5. The immersion is gone when you get close. Folks love to fly that drone around and explore too.
We donât need to sell ourselves short because of decades old ideas of what a flight simulator is or should do.
I am pretty sure that a nice side-effect for the MS Maps team is that they are now getting much more âtrafficâ data and attention for their maps than from the few Windows users that âaccidentallyâ stumbled over the âbuilt inâ Maps app (not to mention the feature that you can easily list all âphotogrammetry citiesâ).
There is hope that they will improve material based on that new âusage dataâ, and maybe also get some âcross-fundingâ from FS 2020 sales, who knows.
Then again, why major European cities like Paris or London do not have photogrammetry data yet is beyond me: seems like that development stalled in Bing Maps. Not to mention Africa, Asia and the southern hemisphere in general (Iâd love to see Rio de Janeiro, for instance!).
Well, you might want to take a nice flight from Nairobi, Kenya, west 30nm or so to that valley, then S-SW down it to the gap, then east toward Kilimanjaro. The scenery is amazing!
dear sir, after first look on the 2020, i couldnât fly any more in p3d, i even didnât start it any more from that time, but in same way, we have to help devs make it better, and for this we have to show all the problems
First, Google has more money to invest because a decent percentage of the population uses google maaps. Maybe that will change if the game brings more interest in bing maps but probably not.
If the quality of Bing maps was on par with google, I wonder what our frame rates would be. Having a little lower quality may be a blessing in disguise for now.
quality of maps have nothing relate to quality in game, so we can see ugly buildings with high quality settings in game and this will less frame than looking good buildings with quality low in game, itâs all about what and how itâs rebuilding then rendering
p.s. actually wee need 12pm most hot day photo every where especially mountains, then filter all clouds and shadows of clouds, this is will ideal without snow on the hills without generated buildings where shadows of tree/buildings, and after all, all that foto have to be created on high quality 3d maps, then we need more models, of aircrafts, radio tv towers, obelisks, churches, high power and telephone wires, light road sticks(dont know how english say) for generate it instead buildings or mini hills, and this will take time, then 2pb base become 5pb then 10pb, and then nvidia 6090 out for rendering all of this
exactly, if i want to hover over or into my large second property of 38 acres, see my barnhouse I should be able and if i wanted to and have done so IRL, can get VFR clearance to do so easily.
its a FLIGHT SIM, rules are meant to be broken and even outright ignored!
You also need to research a few airports that have homes in dense urban areas that sit right under major international airports and have planes coming down to just shy of 100â AGL to Land.
both of Chicagoâs airports have this, LAX has it, among a plethora number of large and regional airports around the world.
Google map do not own all, tons are from 3rd party pipeline which Bing can buy, they came from 3rd party pipeline source Acknowledgements
Bing are updating region\country according to Jorg Neamann from Microsoft at the moment, and this will be ongoing task, these will be available on Msfs free World Map update.
