Is it possible to enable or disable mods while in-game or must the whole sim be shutdown and restarted, please?
It appears to sfcan and load the community folder contents only upon initial start of the sim.

Honestly, I’m too scared to try in case it breaks something 
I seem to remember the ability to reload add-ons in X-Plane without having to fully restart but I haven’t played it for ages.
You can;t do it while the sim is running. It loads and initializes the contents of your Community folder on initial load of the sim,
