Plane: Cessna 172 Skyhawk Classic or G1000 (NO aircraft modifications or substitutions are expected, for this test of pilot and plane endurance, and for sure, NO USE OF THE PFUNNY KEYS (you know who you are!). We will be travelling approx. 1064 NM, only stopping for 10 minute fuel stops (or CRASHES).

Departure Airport : John F. Kennedy International (KJFK) airport, New York.

Duration: 20 - 24 hours!!!

So you think you’re tough, you think you have what it takes, and enough munchies in your cockpit (and coffee or soda, to keep you running).

How you NAVIGATE is totally up to YOU. Today we travel from KJFK in New York, and fly Non Stop to KLAX, Los Angeles, California. Make it as REAL as you WANT it to be! I will be doing just that, and will fly through ALL weather and LIVE time, light and darkness, on this trip. Fog? Too bad! Hope you understand ILS! Thunderstorms? Scary, huh? ICE? Uh oh, but we keep going. And LIVE WEATHER is ALWAYS expected. Will there be difficult landings? You know there will. And notice there are a few things missing. No Jet or turboprop engines (sorry AIRBUS fliers, no AUTOLAND either). What, you can’t fly without Navigraph? Too BAD! And the plan is to run with FULL REALISM. You crash? We want to see it (and laugh).

And here comes some wise words of wisdom, turn REAL TRAFFIC OFF! And probably plan on reboots, while we have fuel stops, and there won’t be many of those either. They are like five hours apart. This is a BIG test of MS Servers and your hardware. VRAM can be a silent killer on this trip. CTD? Well, cry a few tears, restart, and rejoin up with someone on the trek. Your PC plane may not complete it without fails, but we hope you WILL! This challenge gives some incredible bragging rights for finishing it. Yes, I have made the run three times, and did have CTDs on two of the three runs. Right now, you have no idea how exhilarating it feels, as you see that runway in Los Angeles. And the relief, too.
