Cannot get online AT ALL....help!

Hello, I wonder if anybody can help as I am so close to just completely abandoning this rubbish piece of software. I am playing MSFS on Xbox Game Pass via my laptop.

For some reason I can NEVER get on the servers…the marketplace is greyed out, i get no live weather, map doesnt load textures properly, no multiplayer or live traffic, cannot connect to vatsim, low bandwith errors etc. My internet works fine.

I have tried EVERYTHING. I have tried resetting the data options in settings, signing out and back in, reinstalling the game, resetting the router, tried numerous vpns, clearing the community folder, port forwarding, disabling firewall, signing out of xbox account and back in, using ethernet. Even Microsoft Tech Support called and were unable to find a solution. Nothing has solved the issue, and its been about 6 months now since it last worked ok.

If anybody has any idea what is causing this issue of not being able to connect please help.

Go into your General Options, then on the left select “DATA” then on the right, ensure it is turned on.

done that numerous times, makes no difference. I noticed that it automatically moves Bing Data to Off as well.

Definitely sounds like Xbox / Microsoft games/entitlements, are not allowing you online.
Looks like many have had this problem, I found a few posting on the same subject, you probably have read them but here they are below … good luck.

Have you ever used MSFS on xCloud or did you originally use Game Pass for MSFS and then purchase it later?

I pay for Xbox Game Pass and play it on my laptop after downloading it to a hard drive and synced it with my xbox and microsoft account

yea I have tried the suggestions on that post…still no luck.

Have you ever used a mod that modifies your Windows hosts file? Specifically the one that uses “the other” map source? If so try checking your hosts file first, or use that mod’s GUI to disable it properly.

yea I’m aware of it but no I have never used it before…honestly I give up.
Yesterday I tried again reinstalling the xbox app, microsoft store app and gaming services and made sure they were all signed into the same account and synced up…and it still doesnt work.

The game is unplayable.

Do you have any other MS Store games that work correctly, with an online component of course?

Your issue may not be MSFS specific.

I only have Football Manager 2023 on there but I play that offline, however I have noticed also that my Grand Theft Auto online also fails to connect to their servers and doesnt save, I play that through the Rockstar lient. I have also have server issues with Magic The Gathering occasionally online…

So yes I believe it may not be MSFS specific but at least on the other games I can still actually get online sometimes.

You haven’t told us anything about the capability of you laptop. Keep in mind that just because other games work doesn’t mean MSFS wii work. MSFS has the ability to bring strong computers to their knees. Also, could be the fault of something running in the background. If possible, I’d try a complete reinstall of Windows and MSFS cause sound like your system is messed up somehow. Hope you get it sorted out because it’s a great program when it works as desired.
