Cannot get the Piper PA28 to start

I cannot get it to start. I’ve got a few hours “real time” in this model in my logbook and I recall it was a bit of a pig to start, but it would eventually go. Obviously I’m missing something in 2024.

Hi @Terrylawdinn ,
I have created that topic for you since the one you originally posted in is related to a different issue.

Is fuel switch on a tank? Is fuel pump on?

Before starting, move the mixture lever with your mouse. After that it will start normally. it’s bug in carenado MSFS2024 aircraft.

Did you remove the engine cooling intake plugs? I didn’t know they were there and spent a good amount of time trying to start it even though this is the wrong behavior if those plugs are left in. It started fine once removed

You have to prime the engine first

You don’t have to prime. I haven’t. But it does seem it’s critical to move the mixture lever with mouse first which I do normally - explains why I’ve not had an issue.

Thanks everyone, the mixture control operation was the problem. Subsequently enjoyed a very nice flight and this is staying in my hangar.
As it happens one of the liveries matched the aircraft I flew so it’s now got the old registration on it.

Same here couldn’t get any fuel pressure until manipulating mixture control with the mouse. I always use my bound controllers. Thanks for the heads up to everyone.

Strangely my V1F Mixture lever binding works the plane’s lever correctly but it’s right that you have to move the lever first with your mouse i.e. from the lean position to fully rich . Bizarre, but it seems to be the only thing that activates the fuel pressure (as previous post) thereby allowing the engine to start from C&D!

Same here with my V1F. FWIW, the same behavior exists on the recent C182Q model for 24. Was a real head scratcher figuring that one out, it was LOL! Good flying all, cheers!

I’m pretty sure it’s not realistic, otherwise they wouldn’t have sold many aircraft irl!

I’ve not been able to get this airplane to start yet, even with using the mouse on the mixture. I think it might be from my mixture lever being jittery.
