Cannot install: Installer claims not enough space, screenshot attached

I cannot install on a drive I have previously installed on. There is obviously enough space.

I have had to redownload and install this program 3 times, due to update fails, endless searching for update errors. It takes me 20 hours to download. I am about to give up.

Hello, I’ve been waiting for MSFS to download for over 10 hours now, I finally got down to 16GB left, and then it crashed and I had to reopen it. Once I got back to the download, this greeted me:

As you can see, it clearly show that I have 54 GB of available space, and the download only has 16 GB left, yet it still says I don’t have enough space, which makes no sense. I tried deleting a few things and clearing up more space, with the same thing being shown.

Any idea on how to fix this? Or do I have to spend another 10 hours redownloading the entire thing?

Ok, nothing definitive with this software but I did this ( after xxx rebbots/reinstalls…)

Check Windows Store in your PC and update ALL as per suggestion.

Quit MSFS2020

1.- Find the folder “…\Official\OneStore” folder. ( the one you are downloading MSFS content now ).
2.- COPY the contents to another drive ( can be an external drive ) All sub foldres folders in it.
3.- On the installing drive DELETE the contents of the same folder ( all subfolders in it )
4.- Reboot your device.
5.- Start MSFS2020 all over again.
6.- Create a special folder , example FS2020 on the install drive
7.- Direct MSFS2020 to THAT new folder for download content ( browse button in picture you show )
8.- Let it start “updating”… wait for 1 - 2 files to complete download AND decompress
9.- Pause update on this very screen
10.- quit MSFS2020
11.- Reboot
12.- Copy the SubFolders from backup drive onto same Folder “Store” on real install folder
13.- Startup MSFS2020 and confirm your newly created Folder as download folder…

MSFS2020 will check the existance of the “precious Gbs” you downloaded before and continue its bussiness.

NO warranty. My tip, My Experience.

I have done so with 2 devices. I have the 90+ Gb subfolders backed up in USB 1 Tb drive.

I hope it helps.

Hi, i started to install MSFS2020 from Xbox app and it got to 3GiB before i had to restart it, when i reopened the game it says "You do not have enough space on this disk"when i do.
I’m installing the game on my hard drive.

Maby you have your Virtual memory on that disk holding up the installation.

I have over 200g free and it’s telling me I don’t have enough disk space for latest update. Anyone having the same issue?

I have 450+GB available for a 120-GB update.
I dont want to put it somewhere else.

Sounds like the installer is pointing to the wrong location. Since it can’t find the original install, it going to install everything again. point it to the right folder and it should update

Thanks, but its pointing to C:\Users\Ricta\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages which I’m pretty sure is correct.
BTW. I havent update in months so is why it prolly so huge

I actually get this after stopping the update, then starting it again.
It download the entire update and wouldnt install. I stopped MSFS and started again and got this error.

Is it possible I have installed it using re-directed folders to another drive? that DOESNT have neough space?
I found these folders on a drive that has little space on it

Yep. Folders are being re-directed to another drive which doesnt have the space.
Moved stuff off that drive and all good now.

Glad to see you got it worked out!

It’s saying I don’t have enough disc space for the mandatory update. Anyone have an answer for me

Disk cleanup in Windows (microsoft.com)

I have one drive, and that’s C:/
