Cannot Install SDK

Hi All
I have tried to install the SDK but the installation is frozen. Can anyone give me any tip?

I have version 1.36.2.0 of MSFS (latest)
I the SDK version seems to be 0.23.1.0

I click on the Install in MSFS and the msi is downloaded.
When I try to run this I just install the Core. (unchecked the Visual Studio add on that was preset.) I have tried both with and without this choise.
After some initial verification I klick the Install and the following windows is shown

image

And there it stands forever.

In my task Manager following occurs

And there the
“Windows Installer”
and
“Consent UI for administative applications”

That seems to have with the installation to do.
The window installer runs first and then the “Consent UI… seems to start”.

Oh . Sorry. I found the problem - and it was a hidden dialog that ask me if I allow the installer to make modification.

In normal I just would delete this topic . - but maybe someone else are as crazy as me and do not looks for this dialog.

I cannot install the SDK either.

I got an error with a missing .dll which I don’t know which one because the instalation doesn’t tell me.

Any support from Microsoft?

Hi @harpsinuno,

I’d suggest opening a ticket with the ZenDesk.

Already opened. The answer was: they don’t support this issue… I have to go to the dev forum where nobody answers…

I am trying to install this version, but for some reason he .msi blocks in the beginning because it needs a dll which I don’t know exactly which one.

Did you try installing an older version, and then working to newer ones from there?

Yes… I tried all versions… 18, 22, 23, 24… The error is the same… I asked help in the zendesk. They don’t give help for this kind of issue.

I understand, I suspect the issue in answering your question on the SDK forums is due to workload with the developer alpha for FS2024.

Yeah, but this problem stays for almost a week, or, to be more precise, some months… I asked the question more than 10 times in several foruns. No luck until now.

Please follow these steps to run SDK installer from Powershell with administrative privileges.

1 Move the SDK Installer to the C: Drive:

  • Locate the downloaded SDK installer file on your PC.
  • Move or copy SDK installer file directly to the C: drive for easier access.

2 Open PowerShell as Administrator:

  • Click on the Start Menu and type Powershell.
  • Right-click on Windows PowerShell in the search results and select “Run as administrator”.

3 Navigate to the C: Drive:

  • In the PowerShell window, type the following command to switch to the C: drive
    cd C:\
    press Enter

4 Run SDK Installer:

  • Now, type the following command, replacing installer.msi with the actual name of your downloaded SDK installer:
    msiexec /i installer.msi

press Enter

You’re very welcome

Yes, it is possible to specify a different installation directory. I will write you a guide using example of installing on the D: drive. However, I need a moment to do that because I’m currently helping you while having dinner - just me since everyone else is already asleep :upside_down_face:

OK. take your time… Thanks.

But if it is the same but instead of C:\ I put D:, I can try it…

See you in some moments

It’s been such a long time since I’ve installed it this way (via Powershell) and it turns out that we now have a “Browse” button in SDK Core installer.

With those two it worked. Let’s open it to see if it works…

Done. Thanks

Remaining parts of SDK will automatically install in the folder where SDK Core is installed, even if that is on drive D, E, F, or any other drive.

Edit

You’re very welcome.
I was surprised by the lack of empathy and support from Zendesk - it’s really sad :frowning:

Hi Nuno,

We do not provide any support for the SDK.

Try installing your reinstalling your visual library and see if that helps. If not, you will need to contact the SDK team as previsouly advised."

Thank you for the clarification.
I am disappointed by the lack of basic knowledge among Zendesk support and I’m also disappointed that no one helped you on the SDK forum.

Fly safe capt.

Yeah… That’s life… but after some days you helped me.

Now, another battle comes, which is how to correct an original bgl file for AI traffic purposes (wrong parking radius, AI unreal parking, and so on…). If the answers are so few, maybe in half an year, this will be solved…

Good flights and thanks for your precious help.
