Cannot start a free flight

I have the problem, that i cannot start a free flight via World-Map…

I select a Aircraft, i select Airport, the Button “Losfliegen” goes active, but nothing happens… I can click and click an nothing happens.

Other Features, like the Landing-Challenges will work.

What can i do to solve this Problem?

On that note is there anything such as free flight anymore. Everything I see you must select a departure and destination. I like to just leave one airport and go to another airport and save where I am at, but when I do and reload none of the weather settings reload??

OK, there are several things you can do… there are Landing-Challenges by example or special pre-defined Flights from A to B.

Reloading the weather settings can depend on the using of live-weather or not. I’v not tested this…

I’m having the same issue: was trying to start from LIPN, flying to LIPB. First time I tried this, the button worked, game started to load, then showing some top-down image with the Alps - freezing - crashing.
Next try, starting the game, no matter what airports I use as start and destination, the button doesn’t work any more. Other stuff like challenges still work. Tried various airport codes, different planes, nothing helps.
Then I tried reinstalling the game, tried the same airport codes again (still not sure if that’s the core issue here), game showing starts loading, then same behavior, game crashes. Restart, again the button won’t work.
BTW starting as admin didn’t help for me.
I was affected by the bug of FS2020 not being compatible with non-ASCII chars in my profile (Müller? Come on), but that should be gone since the first patch came out.
Will now try reinstalling AGAIN on a local profile without the ü Umlaut. Only takes half a day…

EDIT:
Now tried this:

  1. “Uninstalled” the game from my normal profile (with the Umlaut ü). But DID NOT delete all the downloaded files on my SSD (wanted to see if I can reuse them instead of downloading again)
  2. Created a local profile without any special characters. Installed the game, when started, pointing it to the previous location on my SSD - voila: no download, game just starts
  3. Tried free world flight from KSFO to KLAX - works, no crashing
  4. Tried free world flight from LIPN to PIPB - works, no crashing
  5. switched back to my normal profile (with the ü). Reinstalled the game, and did NOT have to point it to the already downloaded file location.
  6. Tried free world flight from KSFO to KLAX - game crashes
  7. Restarting the game, trying same flight - button no longer works
  8. Switched to the new local profile (no special chars), trying same flight - works

Findings:

  1. the special char fix is not yet working completely! Compared to pre-patch, the game now at least starts, and interestingly a challenge works, but no free flight possible.
  2. parallel installation in two profiles using the same location for the big download seems to work
  3. downloading the whole 90+GB is not always necessary when reinstalling

No, if you just select departure airport, without destinatiom, and hit the fly button…if it worjs, you can just do a local flight from selected departure apt. Now the prob, and as i just said…hundreds of people can’t fly at all from the world map, because the fly button doesn’t work…EVEN with multiple different solutions from other people…it still doesn’t work. Check the thread “fly button doesn’t work”

Still not working. CN’t bother to try, i didn’t invent nor create the game. And i’m definitely not a computer geek. When i pay for something, i expect it to work, point. MS/Asobo have to work on it ASAP and fix it by doing a hotfix patch, or solve it in the next patch( i’m downloading the newest patch now as i’m writing)…after the latest one that i’m downloading right now.
If it still doesn’t work then, i’ll go for the refund, and scratch fs out of my favourite games, ever

I have installed MSFS twice but World Map ‘free’ Flight doesn’t work. Training, Challenges work OK, curiously. Airports and planes chosen, weather, etc. Push ‘FLY’ button and nothing happens. Hope they fix it soon …

Here is video. You must create windows account without ascii signs. Forexample “msfs” . Open microsoft store, sign your accout, i stall MSFS2020 and play. Sorry for my english.

Hello guys, same problem here, the fly button doesn´t work, any fix for this? i reeinstall so many times and did so many things and same problem allways. i´m so sad!! any help please??

Azor. Check this video Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support you must create new windows user WITHOUT ASCII. You dont have forexample “AŽÓR” you must have “AZOR”. And you can play. I was have same problem and now i flight throught Europe :slight_smile: If you do it, and you start ity please send a report me.

Hi, my account is ‘Administrator’, Fly Button doesnt work. Waiting till they fix it .... Installed twice. Nothing. Training, Challenges work ok (but today I had a unexpected crash` at normal speed and altitude (?).

i did this before brother, the fly button works but the sim crash with the image of the world :frowning:
i did so much but nothing :frowning: im sad :frowning: waiting for new update…
