ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Beta range is not included in the range useable to a controller on a turbo prop, namely the Cessna 208B, 0% on the controller correspond to the “Flight Idle” position, which is at the gate between Beta and main range. It leave beta range unusable for those like us using a controller

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes, and yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load the sim with the 208
  2. Try using the honecomb bravo
  3. check the position of the throttle on the aircraft

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are currently plugged in? Please name all of them as there could be a potential conflict.

Tested with only the honeycomb bravo

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
No

[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?
DX12

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?
Radeon 6800XT

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

If you want a workaround and have a spare button, maybe map it to ‘previous throttle detent’, which should take the lever from idle to beta. If you click the button again, you get full reverse. You can either map another button for ‘next throttle detent’, to reverse those moves or, more simply, just move your throttle control, which should take the lever back to idle.

I know, my point is that we should not have to do shenanigans like that to use it

I agree. When the aircraft allows, I prefer to go from full reverse, all the way up to TOGA, all on the same axis.

Having the bottom of the beta range as the 0% point on the throttle axes would make more sense, but some form of detent would be useful, to let you know where the line is.

I know that for the bravo some companies are making addons with the detents (don’t know for the 208, but there is one for the ATR…and i’ts stuck in the mail because of Canada Post strike :frowning: )

I have a TM Warthog throttle and get my physical detents 3d printed. The one i have for the various airbus aircraft also works for the ATRs.

I had thought of getting one done for the Kodiak, which would also work for the C208, if its throttles could be calibrated.

The King Air 90 GTX also has this issue. I have tried many combinations of bindings to get proper Beta without success. There’s 0 thru 100% and full reverse although full reverse does not go high enough in N1. I believe the real airplane goes as high as 70% N1 with full reverse. Beta is used commonly in turboprops to control taxi speed, and without you will “ride” the brakes as you do in MSFS 2024 without Beta use. Beta is also highly effective in slowing a turboprop where reverse is not necessarily needed in most landings.

I’ve found a workaround/solution to this that allows me to use beta range with a controller.

I’m using a Saitek X52 Pro, which has detents in specific places on the throttle, but this should work more generally (adapt to suit whatever detents your controller has).

In the controls menu, assign your throttle to ‘Throttle 1 axis (0-100%)’:

If you want to use this for twin turbos too (I do!) then assign the same throttle to 'Throttle 2 Axis (0 to 100%) too.

Then click on the cog on the right and then click on ‘tweak action curve’. I’ve found the setting that fits where my detent seems to be is the following:

Using this setting, resting against the bottom detent has my throttle on idle, pulling back through the detent takes me into beta.

Hope this might be useful!

There are 5 options for this BETA range, all 5 options will not allow for configuration and is broken. The Darko is an example of an aircraft which uses this type of throttle.
